I can buy that. But how the hell does that information get relayed to Jon or anyone else of importance when it comes to that story (Dany, Aegon, etc)?

Well Bran seems to have some talent for talking through the trees.

Maybe Meera and Hodor (JoJen will never survive the trip back if hes even still alive now) make the journey back south.

Who knows

I just feel like something major has to be revealed through bran's ability to look through the weirwoods.

Would be great if that's how Jon found out about his parents

Replying to the OP simply to save for as soon as I finish ADWD (32% on Kindle) so I can come back and have my face melted off by all the shite I missed....

And because I've watched this thing go ludicrous speed to 6 pages in like a couple of hours.

How the hell does that happen in a book thread?? Especially a 5000 page series where the most recent book came out months ago

This is an infant theory that I haven't fleshed out yet. Pretty Merris of the Windblown resembles Brienne way too much. Unless it is a red herring, think about it. They are both Westerosi, over six feet, blond, muscled, and have large cheek scars on both sides. It is probably nothing but it is nagging at me.

Sorry to change the subject, but do any of the theories that y'all read ever mention Patchface? I want to beat the shite out of that annoying fool, but there is something more than meets the eye with him. He is sinister.

He predicted Renly's death

quote:

He began to sing. “The shadows came to dance, my lord, dance my lord, dance my lord,” he sang, hopping from one foot to the other and back again. “The shadows came to stay, my lord, stay my lord, stay my lord.”He jerked his head with each word, the bells in his antlers ringing up a clangor.

and the red wedding

quote:

“Fool’s blood, king’s blood, blood on the maiden’s thigh, but chains for the guests and chains for the bridegroom, aye aye aye.”

I've had the same thoughts but I can't figure out how to make it fit for the life of me.

No worries. We're all gettin' nerdy in here. Plenty of it to go around.

Patchface foreshadows A LOT of things that come to pass.

For instance:

quote:

"The shadows come to dance, my lord, dance my lord, dance my lord," he sang, hopping from one foot to the other and back again. "The shadows come to stay, my lord, stay my lord, stay my lord."

Melisandre Shadow Baby?

quote:

Fool's blood, king's blood, blood on the maiden's thigh, but chains for the guests and chains for the bridegroom, aye aye aye."

The Red Wedding.

That little bastard speaks and I'm all in for what he has to say now.

Melisandre is also frightened of him:

quote:

That creature is dangerous. Many a time I have glimped him in my flames. Sometimes there are skulls about him, and his lips are red with blood

My theory was cooler before rereading AFFC and ADWD at the same time. According to the order some website suggested, we are introduced to Pretty Merris before Brienne gets strung up by Uncat. Of course, the order isn't canon.

I'm going to do this eventually. Only reason I haven't is because it'll be too big of a pain in the arse on a kindle

I am using a kindle fire and its pretty simple. I copied and pasted the order from the website into a notepad. Before I start reading I check what is next. When I finish a chapter I just delete the chapter from the list.

I may have to try this. I about a 1/3 of the way through Feast again. I might just start it over though.

I've always heard people say Pretty Meris was Tysha (Tyrion's ex-wife). I don't buy it though given the descriptions.

Brienne shows up to take Jamie to Sansa so I don't think they can be the same person.

I don't think so either. Honestly, I'm not sure how someone comes to that conclusion. It just doesn't make any sense to me.

That said, I do think Tyrion finds Tysha again in some shape or form. I haven't decided yet if he finds her as she's killing him though.

True. *

Something else that I've read and wanted to throw out there is that it's been suggested that the Stone Dragon is not the stone dragon at Dragonstone but instead Shireen. That the grayscale could be the "stone" and that she's from Targ descent. If Stannis ends up really dead she would be the heir to the throne.

*If we use one more smiley we're going to frick up the space-time continuum. Just saying.

I hadn't thought of that before but Shireen definitely has Targaryen blood, not sure how Jon would "wake" that dragon though

I don't know if you've ever really paid attention to JoJens dream in SOS or not but its been giving me fits lately.

quote:

“It was different when there was a Stark in Winterfell. But the old wolf’s dead and young one’s gone south to play the game of thrones, and all that’s left us is the ghosts.” “The wolves will come again,” said Jojen solemnly. “And how would you be knowing, boy?” “I dreamed it.”

This has me intrigued as hell
