I won't be satisfied until we have 100.

I totally forgot about this.

And I obviously have not been.

I missed that. Wiki make mention of him in numerous books.
I might have to re-read some Samwell chapters. Marwyn knows some shite; dragon shite.

I just need to go back and re-read the damn books. I have apparently missed so much on the first read through that I feel like a damn idiot sometimes when someone brings something like this up.

Yes, and there seems to be 2 very different factions within the Citadel. That will come into play, I am sure.

I wonder how long until we can expect Maester Sam back at the wall?
Posted on 8/29/12 at 8:01 pm to CottonWasKing
I have a feeling Sam doesn't make it back to the Wall and ends up serving another purpose. Just a hunch.
I'm also curious as to what will happen with Mance Rayder's son now that he's with Gilly at Sam's family's place.

It will take a while, but Sam will be "The" Maester at the Wall when the war with the dead people comes.

I don't think Sam gets back to the Wall primarily because I think the Wall is coming down. And the Others will flood over the North.
Sam will probably be The Maester. But my bet would be Maester at Kings Landing; at some point. I guess that's where I see Sam's end game. He could be Maester of the NW before; if there is a NW left by the end of TWOW.

Idk Sam is pretty damn intelligent I could see him forging a very quick chain

I see Sam being in a position where he can basically throw up to his Father for being a shitty bastard towards him. It would be fantastic to see him get to KL as a Maester.
The biggest reason I don't see him getting back to the Wall is because I think he ends up with Jon again.

So you think someone is going to find and blow the Horn? The Wall is built with sorcery, so it will not come down with just an assault.

Oh hell yes to this.

I don't see the end game of all of this playing out at KL. I think the lands that these vain lords are fighting over will become irrelevant once the "Real War" hits.

My guess would be the horn brings down the wall. However, now that I think back, I think Samwell may have the horn. And it was broken.
I agree with you that The War will take focus away from KL. But in the end, the seat of power is in KL. I guess if you have dragons, you could rule from just about anywhere, though.

You mean the horn he found buried? I agree with that. It was buried with all the Dragonglass speartips.

Oh I think he"ll get his chain quickly, but don't think his journey will take him directly to the Wall.

I could see that as well now that it has been mentioned

Wasn't Theon already in Winterfell/on his way to Winterfell when Balon "fell?"

Well to be fair a faceless man killed Balon so he could've been anywhere but it was definitely Euron imo
