I've been thinking about Old Nan a lot lately but I don't have enough evidence to support what my theory.

Still chipping away at my re-read of ASOIAF while reading with the SO who is on his initial read. Getting into the thick of SoS. Just finished reading about Robb sending his succession letters with Lady Mormont and the others to Greywater Watch. Can't help but feel that it's a plot device to secure Jon's claim should no one outside of Jon/Howland Reed/etc know of Jon's R+L lineage. Or that it doesn't frick up Littlefinger's world when he tries to make claim to Winterfell through Sansa.

I'm wondering when Robb's will is going to come into play with Jon and what happens if Davos finds Rickon. I'm also curious to see what occurs if Bran ever makes it back to Winterfell.

Some somewhat major casting news for a minor role--looks like Arya is heading to Braavos at the end of S4:

Whatever happens, none of these 3 sounds good for Littlefinger. Once learns about all 3 of them surviving, then I he's really going to flip his shite, since he had a basically perfect plan with all 3 of them out of the way. Now they're the only 3 flaws to his master plan in making Sansa the Queen in the North, with himself truly ruling through her.

Braavos is a pretty major set piece, so it comes as no surprise they're waiting until next season to show it. No reason for Sam to go there this season, and I bet they're planning on killing 2 birds with one stone on the set pieces.

I'm also hoping that Sansa somehow escapes from him in TWoW. Supposedly a new plot is going to occur for her in the next book, which I wonder if fleeing the Vale is a part of it. Littlefinger is such a creep and I seriously think he's going to take advantage of her sooner than later. I think he planned on making her his "paramour" once she marries Harry. But I honestly don't see her marrying Harry but some fans think that Littlefinger knows where Tysha is hiding and could produce her to annul her marriage to Tyrion.

I think Sansa will remain in Littlefinger's captivity throughout the next novel, and kill him in the first 1/3 of ADOS. I think Sansa will marry Harry the Heir with LF convincing her its the only way she can return home. LF will leave Harry the Heir behind in the Vale, and march west with Sansa, and sack the Twins after they call their liege lord for help or Cersei commands LF and the Freys to march North and take it back from Stannis. The sacking will be incredibly brutal, with the servants and children being killed too, with only the captives being released. Sansa will then fully begin to realize what type of man LF is, and I think Sansa may be in for a bit of a rape once LF realizes that Sansa knows everything that he did to her family and what he plans to do with her.

I'm thinking in regards to the will, it will help to solidify the kingdom for Jon. He is of the north which will help ally the northeners to him. Being a Targ will make him the legitimate King in the rest of the Kingdom. Still my guess that the series ends with Jon on the Iron Throne and Rickon as Warden of the North. Arya marries Gendry, Jon will name him Warden of the South. Consider this the 2nd biggest reach, Sansa stays with Tyrion, who is Warden of the West. And for the crackpot reach, Bran is told countless times he will never walk, but will learn to fly. Arryn words are "as High as Honor". Bran marries some girl from the Vale and sits atop the Eyrie with his dragon. Or on Dragonstone. Important thing is, that poor kid gets a dragon.

I'd say its more likely Sansa stays with Tyrion than for Arya to marry Gendry, or anyone really.

Everyone is expecting her to die. So naturally I assume GRRM will have her live and settle down as much as Arya could potentially settle down.

I'm not sure if she lives or dies, but if she lives, I think she'll continue to go out and delivering horrible people her version of justice.

Crazy theory:

Varys is a Faceless man. His "little birds" are his alters who gather info around Westeros.

I am rereading AFFC/ADWD and in Arya's chapters the Kindly Man constantly harps on how their order deals in secrets and it got me thinking.

It would also explain how Varys could hide in plain sight in KL for two books.

Am I crazy?

Nope, not crazy. I think Varys could be a warg and the cats and kids with their tongues cut out in King's landing are his ears and eyes as well.

I still think that Arya will always consider herself to be a Stark, deep down. I say she returns to Westeros sometime during TWoW and goes rogue and possibly kills some of the remaining players. It will be the 'bitter' part of the 'bittersweet' story, that Arya will always have that hole in her heart. I've always thought that she and Stoneheart had the greatest chance of meeting again since Arya was right outside at the Red Wedding. It would be a really sad reunion and I could picture Arya giving her a mercy killing, realizing that she is merely a shadow of her mother. As much as I hate Catelyn I would probably cry reading that since Arya was THIS CLOSE to being reunited with her mother and brother, and then to have that reunion with her Undead mother and killing her out of her misery.

And I've always thought that Robert's "I have a son, you have a daughter, let's join our houses" is going to come to fruition. If Arya never marries, then it's my next guess that Sansa will end up with Gendry possibly.

You and I seem to disagree quite a bit on the who-Sansa-ends-up-with part . I'm not totally buying that she'd end up with Tyrion, but this is majorly, majorly crackpot: I could possibly picture what Sandor said to Arya that "I wish I fricked her [Sansa] bloody and ripped her heart out" coming true--taking her maidenhead/having sex consensually, getting her pregnant, and dying. Then you'd have another secret bastard being raised as an heir. Of course, I don't see George going down this path, but you never know. Always thought it was interesting how she always thinks about him, he was there when she got her first period, he gave her the 'bloody' Kingsguard cloak, he tried to 'take a song' from her on her bed, the Unkiss, the whole Beauty and the Beast trope...just too many innuendos there from George to ignore it and never have Sandor return to the main story so I always keep that possibility in the back of my mind.

In truth, Sansa's future husband is a big question mark to me. I think that George will surprise us all though.

Now one pairing that would make me is Jon and Dany...but I don't see George going there.

I just think that Arya has seen and done to many terrible things to go back to the life of being a noble girl. Sansa at least has never left that setting, but Arya never really belonged there in the first place. Whether she lives or dies, I see her story ending in tragedy.

I don't think Sansa and Tyrion will end up together, but I do think it's more likely than Arya marrying Gendry.

Hello all, new to the thread. I just finished book 3 and wanted some advice. I have heard a dance with dragons and a feast for crows happen at the same time. After looking at the POV chapters, I think I would prefer a dance with dragons. Is it alright if I read that one first? Or should I just read it in sequential order? Thanks

I wouldn't skip Feast. There is a combined read that you can do AFFC/ADWD combined reading. But a lot of seasoned readers will recommend that you read AFFC and ADWD as written and to do the Boiled Leather combo as a reread.
