Lanna...almost sounds like a plural form for Lannister...which supports your theory (in a way) as her father could have been Tyrion, as well as any of 100 Lannister soldiers - or was it revealed Tywin lied about the pay-for-rape he hosted on her before Tyrion took his turn?

Not her, this one:

quote:

Lanna is a young prostitute at the Happy Port whorehouse in Braavos. Merry charges three times as much for Lanna as other whores. She is the pretty fourteen year old daughter of the Sailor's Wife and has fine long golden hair.[1][2]

Lanna is the female form of Lann. i.e. Lann the Clever.

I'll be honest. I'd be just fine with Tyrion never finding out "where whores go". I'm so ready for the action to start in ASOI&F that I'd almost hate to see them go into that area of his past. Especially now that Tywin is no more. It's almost more poignant to leave it as it is.

If it can somehow more the plot along and they don't dwell on it to much I guess I wouldn't mind they visited something like that. But it's going to bog things down more I can do without it.

I think it's no coincidence that GRRM named her Lanna and mentioned that she has long, golden blonde hair.

Never saw it either, but I always picture her to look like Dany now .

My book update is that I'm over 1/3 of the way through ASoS (yeah yeah I know spoilers through ADWD), and holy shite. Jon Ygritte scene, Tyrion Sansa wedding, Dany and Unsullied are within 4 chapters of each other and read them all today .

Damnit, I can't stop now!! Can't wait to meet Oberyn soon, aka the Pimp of Westeros.

If you haven't finished ASoS, then I'll say give ole Selmy a chance, he may get there eventually.

Lanna...very interesting. I missed that on my first read through as well and it's been a while. I actually have it in front of me and am rereading AFfC and ADwD together.

I would bet it is her. That plus the part that she (Sailor's Wife) will only bed those who "marry" her. Could be from the psychological scars of what happened with her real marriage to Tyrion.

I agree with y'all about her being kinda pointless now that Tywin is gone...except...if Winter comes to House Lannister as we suspect it will for Cercei's kids...and Jaime is whatever he is going to be...

Lanna, being highborn, may end up with one hell of a claim to the Rock.

That would be interesting to see .

As for Barristan, I know he's a badass....but he should've told Dany/given her the true story about what really happened during the Rebellion. There's no oathbreaking in telling the truth about someone who is dead and an event that happened ~15-17 years before.

He does. That's one of the things that they did differently in the series that they're going to have to reconcile this season. In the books, Barristan is still Arstan and doesn't reveal who he actually is until Mereen. When Dany asks him why he lied about who he was, he politely tells her that he had to make sure that she wasn't batshit crazy like her old man before pledging his sword to her.

And then there's the whole mess with Jorah that comes out at the same time, and that's the part that they're going to have to reconcile.

One thing I guess they would have to reconcile is what effect Tyrion's first wife turning up would have on his marriage to Sansa.

I don't think they've ever delved into what formalities, if any, were used to terminate that first marriage. Or really, what the laws are regarding divorce and such. It would seem like Twyin was the type to see to it that a legal termination occurred. But I just don't remember seeing it referenced in the books.

Seems to me Tywin's way to handle any claim Tysha's offspring would have to CR is to have 50 or so Lannister soldiers fess up to the train they ran on her. I doubt if he bothered with any documentation dissolving a legal marriage..in Tywins mind, .if her kids were of questionable paternity, they cant take his gold, so what's the point?

So it could in fact negate Sansa's marriage to Tyrion...that and the fact he's a convicted kin / kingslayer. I guess Sansa is considered culpable by assoc. too.

I don't know what the polygamy laws are for non Targs, TBH.

"Because Tywin Lannister says so" seems to be accepted as legal precedent in Westeros. There's even a song about it.
