Disappointed they didn't bring on James Purefoy, since he was the one I really wanted.
Wasn't going to happen as soon as they greenlighted The Following for a 2nd season and his disdain for HBO over what happened with Rome. He's been pretty vocal about not working for HBO again because of it.

I reread the duel the other day, still felt like the Viper was going to win.
We've seen Gregor in action twice, against Sandor and Oberyn, and he really got outfought both times. His strength and reach and incredible tolerance for pain, (augmented by his addiction to opium), make him fearsome but he doesn't seem the sort to ever be diligent in the practice yard. For that matter who would willingly train with him? He's slow, stupid, and prone to uncontrollable rages. I don't really rank him that highly among the great fighters.

I must've missed that on my reads. When do they say or imply that he is addicted to opium?

Milk of the poppy has to be opium right? Its mentioned several times that he drinks enough to kill a normal man because of his headaches.

From the "Favorite GoT scene"
That's not the point of the scene at all.
I really can't believe that any of the Hodors can't see that starving old men, women, and children are not adding anything to her army. Surely one of them should be able to see this.

The point is that she has a dedicated army and she's about to frick shite up. It was a little cheesy I'll give you that but I got chills when it zoomed out to see how big her army has gotten

I laughed too when I saw that comment.
Dany is far from wrecking shite, and I find the books tend to highlight her immaturity and incompetence at leading and her decision-making in general more than the show does. I would also think that D&D should know about how Hodors and non-Hodors alike generally thought that scene was absolute garbage, and I would've rather watched Shae in a scene (which is already awful to endure to begin with) than watch that cheesy crowdsurfing again.
Plus, Dany ignored Jorah and Barristan's council a lot in the books, and rather than listen to what they had to say, she'd whine and say "Well, Viserys said that Westeros was blablabla and I don't believe what you have to say even though both of you lived there for decades"

This is very true to a large extent, but to be fair her largest success came from ignoring both Selmy and Jorah when she double crossed Astapor and got her army of Unsullied. She definitely should have listened to advice in Mereen though.
But that's a weak arse contrived plot device designed to stall for time anyway, and doesn't jive with her personality in the books before ADWD. I think that's what pissed me off about ADWD the most, it was just such sloppy and terrible writing.

I too am sick of Dany's bullshite and Jorah and Barristan pussing out whenever they know Dany is wrong or won't tell her information she needs to know. At least Tyrion is coming in who sure as hell isn't going to take that bullshite from Dany.

I could picture Tyrion telling her to go frick off with her bratty attitude. Tyrion would be honest with her, in that the majority of Westeros don't give a crap about Dany's "claim" to what was won by conquest anyway.

That's because Jorah was obsessed with her/wanted her in the sack and Barristan is so "honor bound" like Ned Stark was. Barristan is a whimp and won't admit to Dany that her father was an a-hole. Yeah, I know Barristan was in the Kingsguard, but I think he knew that the Mad King was mad and unjust. I think he's just worried to say any negative to Dany about her father because of that and because she'd probably banish him.
Illyrio fed her a lot of crap too. I'm confident that Tyrion would set her straight and give her the real story about why her father was a nutjob and would say "Yes, your father, who wanted to burn down all of King's Landing, was a great king? What kind of shite have people been telling you your whole life?"

I kinda hope that Tyrion pretty much tells Dany that her father got what he deserved. Yeah a king who wants to take the head of Ned Stark after he already burned Rickard Stark alive was unjustly deposed. I mean, it's even hinted at that Rheagar wanted to get rid of his own father.

Honestly, I doubt Tyrion knows the truth behind Aerys' demise. Only Jaime and perhaps Varys knew why exactly he was killed. If I had to take a guess on what Jaime told his father and family on why he killed Aerys, it's because he put family first. Tywin would be very pleased by that explanation and not inquire further. I don't think Jaime told anyone of his past besides Brienne.
If he had, I think Cersei would be a great deal more cautious and horrified of Wildfyre. I really think she'll rig King's Landing to blow, and then Jaime will walk in. She'll be ecstatic to see him, but Jaime will be cold. She'll ask what's wrong, and then he'll start the story on the truth why he killed Aerys. Slowly but surely she'll come to realize that she has not only turned into Aerys, but also that Jaime is here to kill her. As she finally comes to the realization and Jaime's story is finished, he then strangles her.

I definitely think that Jaime is the valonqar. Some people theorize Arya is gonna use either Jaime or Tyrion's faces though and be sent to kill Cersei, which could be an interesting twist. I think the Jaime killing him himself makes the story come full circle though.

Any chance Tyrion and Dany have teh sexks?
Posted on 6/30/13 at 12:35 pm to Cosmo
Dany has fairly low standards in men. So you definitely have a chance if you're better looking than Khal Drogo and Daario.

Re-reading AFfC right now, and I just realized something: the Sailor's wife is Tysha and Tyrion has a daughter as well from the marriage: Lanna. Lanna is a Lannister name and it has the first few letters of Lannister in it. Tyrion was 13 when he married Tysha, and is now 27, thus 14 years have passed since Tyrion's marriage. The girl is described as having beautiful long blond hair and being 14, the exact time period of Tyrion's marriage.
Can't believe I didn't realize this at first. Granted its my first reread, to where I should pick up a lot more.
