If the name crannogmen is anything to go by, crannogs are artificial islands or something.

Here's the wiki entry
A crannog[1][2][3][4][5] (pron.: /'kræn?g/; Irish: crannóg ['k??an??o?g]; Scottish Gaelic: crannag) is typically a partially or entirely artificial island, usually built in lakes, rivers and estuarine waters of Scotland and Ireland. Unlike the prehistoric pile dwellings around the Alps which were built on the shores and were only inundated later on, crannogs were built in the water, thus forming artificial islands. LINK

About Greywater Watch, is it a man-made floating island? Like waterworld? Or Houseboats strung together?

I definitely took it as houseboats strung together or designed to fit together.

Hmm, the Crannogmen are short, eat frogs and lizard lions, live in mobile homes in the marsh. . ., does this sound vaguely familiar to anyone else?

Ok, for all of the people bashing on the viewers, I decided to go back and scroll through some emails between some friends of mine as we were watching Season 1 (I didn't read the books until after I watched season 1). Here are some of the highlights

"Bout frickin time they killed that clown Viserius. I bet the season finale is going to be Drogo and Danerius sailing across the sea. Now that Ned knows the Lannisters are frickED. Robert is going to crush them in the finale and him and Ned will be getting the kingdom ready for war.

Can't wait till Season 2. Robert vs. Drogo and Ned vs. Jorah is going to be fricking awesome."

Would have actually been pretty badass to see.

Some other ones where we got a little crackpot ourselves

"John is Robert's son no doubt. He has the dark hair like all the other bastards. But Robert asked Ned to keep him for him because he didn't want to piss off the Lannister dad. That's why they're showing all the bastards. He had a bunch of them later, but the Lannisters wouldn't have married her to him if he already had one. They needed their money to keep the throne early on."

"John and Danarius are going to end up hooking up I bet. Drogo will get killed by Robert or Ned but but they are going to fall in love and I bet Robert wants to kill them both even though it's his son, but it splits up Ned and Robert because Ned has come to love him and protects him from the King."

This one was my favorite though:

"That's weird the the king's little bro is gay. Didn't see that coming. I bet he ends up hooking up with Rob somehow. He's not as important as John once he becomes the prince so they'll need to do something with his character."

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack. Meant to put this in the reader thread for the series.

Hopefully this doesn't lessen anyone's appreciation for my Mance/Dayne theory

I figured that, saw you post in the other thread right after

Still like the Mance/Dayne theory even if I'm a bit skeptical of it...I WANT it to be true though.

Lurker...

I lurk half the boards here, but mostly just post in here. I think I started posting in that reread thread, but I think it died so I started posting here. What happened to that thread anyway?

Is it a theory that Meera Reed is Jon's sister?

It's a total crackpot theory of mine that they were separated at birth between Howland and Ned

I could see it. Feels too Star Wars-y, but I definitely could see it.

There does have to be a 3rd person to ride the 3rd dragon.

I was talking with my buddy last night and he predicts that it will end up being Tyrion. He believes Tyrion is actually a Targ.

I know, too Star Wars but it's still possible and allows for more twists

Tyrion being a targ is also possible but less likely IMO

I like the theory that the 3 dragons are 3 titles for 1 person

King-Beyond-the-Wall (Or LC of the NW)
King in the North
King of the Iron Throne

Three Heads of the Dragon rather than 3 dragons

Jon has 3 heads (titles), plus he is both ice AND fire.

eta: This is just theory of the three heads of the dragon, rather than dragon riders, I think I'll have to look it up

No clue about the reread. I wasn't involved in that, but I can definitely see how it would be hard to keep that going. I like that most of us just come back to this thread and post interesting stuff when we come across something in a reread.

The answer has been staring us in the face for years...we just never knew it. The clues are so obvious to me now:

1) "His is the song of Ice and Fire"
OmG...so obvious!

2) "...the dragon has three heads"
Just about seals it.

Possible hint at Dany being Nissa Nissa:
When Mel and Stannis are burning the Seven, the Mother is shown as having a burning sword through her heart. Initially I thought this was symbolizing Caetlyn's death and what happened to Robb. However, Dany is known throughout the various Free Cities as "The mother of dragons" and the slaves refer to her as Mysha which translates to mother. I'm now thinking this is because she will help Azor Ahai forge lightbringer, unless she is AA, Drago was NN, and the dragons are LB

Nissa Nissa, if it even plays into the story, will have to be a tremendous sacrifice for whoever AA is... Just like the original story goes.

Which is why I don't think Drogo was it because he was basically already dead.

Something like Arya would be to Jon Snow or Dany would be to Jorah

Or some cherished relationship that yet to develop

The sacrifice has to be at the highest level

Jamie = Azor Ahai

Let's talk Lightbringer- while I'm not sure on what the sword will actually be (Dawn or possibly one that Gendry forges) I do see two things that make Jaimie a likely AA candidate- the lion and Nissa Nissa. Either Tyrion (lion) and Cersie (Nissa Nissa) or Cersie as a two-for-one package deal. Jaime killing one or both of these characters could support and follow the legend of how Lightbringer was forged. At this time, Jon in theory would have three lions to choose from (Jaime, Cersie, Tyrion) but he doesn't exactly have a lover to kill and make himself a magic sword. The one detail that throws this evidence is Maggy's prophecy that Cersie will be strangled by the 'valonqar'- but still, that doesn't mean Jamie couldn't strangle her and then stab her.

An alternate possibility: Jaime reborn, kills Tyrion as his lion, kills Brienne as his Nissa. What happens to Cersie? I'd say a great way for her to go would be to be strangled by Arya (Arya becomes the 'valonquar' in her faceless man training- just a guess but valonquar looks a bit like an offshoot of valar morghulis).

As you might have guessed, my theory relies heavily on the A + J= J + C theory. We know that Aeryes wanted Joanna, but lets look at Jamie and Cersie as people. Jamie has had his head on mostly straight, but I feel Cersie definitely showed some signs of insanity in Feast (see: Blue Bard interrogation) which totally would fit the daughter of the mad king. That would make for a big reveal, and a interesting revelation that Tywin's only true son was Tyrion when his family always treated him like he didn't belong. Plus, not all Targs are insane.

Smoke and Salt. Okay, I've seen a lot of people try to explain this one and it seems like they were grasping for something that isn't there yet. This is a bit of a leap of faith, but I think somehow we will see a character (not neccessarily Jaime, but whoever AA is) travel to Valyria and be reborn in some way. Though that sounds crazy- hear me out. If Jamie is killed by the reanimated Catelyn, Thoros or prehaps some other Lord of Light followers are around- they can have a hand in getting him away from the brotherhood (apparently Thoros doesn't approve of Cat's control). Jaimie's body has then two possibilities of traveling to Valyria- one by boat, and two (fingers crossed) by dragon. It'd be wild, but the ruins of Valyria have always been a big mystery in the books and its not impossible to go there and back (if you believe the Crow's Eye).

Jamie's arm will be a Valyrian steel sword.
