There's a pretty big hole in the Darkstar/Aegon theory. A lord returning from war with a newborn bastard wouldn't really face intense questioning, it just wouldn't be polite. But Darkstar's name isn't Gerold Sand its Gerold Dayne. So that involves a legitimate marriage and a mother from a house with the necessary standing to marry into House Dayne. Plus, highborn ladies are tended through pregnancy by maesters. I'm intrigued by Darkstar but I just don't think that works.

Osha did say that Hodor for sure has some giant's blood in him, and Old Nan is his grandmother or something like that, so I don't think its that preposterous.

The ref to giant's blood in Hodor could have double meaning- true at face value but also a clue to Nan's fling with Dunk (the height). I always thought Bran saw them bout to get busy 'neath the Weirwood in his vision.

Not sure if Brienne choosing Dunk's sigil for her shield is a clue or just a red herring. Will be interested to see if Dunk has any dealings in Tarth in next D&E.

I think Michael Pitt would make a helluva Ramsey. Not that far off in facial features from book description, and dude can seethe evil when he wants to...

Eta: holy shite that was a big pic. Y'all know who he is...

How was this guy not cast as Ramsay? Aside for a tad bit uglier and blotchy, he's pretty much identical to how I imagine him when reading the books, especially in the eyes.

I always pictured Roose as the guy who played Hans Landa in inglorious basterds.

That guy seems to be a bit too warm to be Roose.

I dont agree with the Dayne=Roose idea. Only two survivors of ToJ. Dayne's story ended there.

I think people also forget that Ramsey is described as fleshy. I'm pretty sure that means chubby, right? I think that could be forgotten for Pitt, though. He was extremely creepy in Funny Games.

Nah, it's just the fact that he will likely become fat as he ages. Think he still matches mostly. I imagine Ramsay to have higher cheekbones though.

Remember Daemon's green dream? Saying that "he saw Dunk the greatest knight in all the land, and a dragon rising from a castle, a castle of snow". Well No dragon rose unless you count it as being egg, I think his dream is yet to come true. Let's cross our fingers that he was seeing Brienne as Dunk and a dragon is going to rise from winterfell, possibly a methaphorical dragon when Jon goes into the crypts and discovers his identity.

I probably shouldn't be included in casting discussions. However, professor Snape would make one hell of a Roose. Barriston should be cast as Gandolf, and how good of a Tyrion would Johnnie Depp make? (fixing the height issue of course). I would also like to see Jon grow a few inches. I think Ned is the only person I can say was perfectly cast, and possibly little finger.

Just started my reread of CoK and boy Stannis Baratheon has got to be one of the biggest crybabies of all times. The prologue does a great job at making you hate him like the rest of the realm does.

You watch your mouth. Stannis is the funniest character in the entire series.

I really like the guy who plays Barristan. I agree on Sean Bean and Aiden Gillen being perfect.

Alan Rickman would make a pretty fricking awesome Roose. The guy they have now is cool too

What do you think will happen with Stannis, short term, in the first few chapters of TWOW?

It sure looks like he is going to take Theon to that Weirwood. And I would have to guess that Bran will somehow reveal that Theon did not kill him or Rickon.

But I wonder: will Bran reveal R+L=J to Stannis soon? He just might.
