Now THIS is something I've never thought of, and truly would LOVE. I'm going to go back and read his conversations with Jon, which would be even more epic than they already are if true.

But, off the top of my head, wouldn't Mance being at the feast at Winterfell with Robert and the Lannisters make this VERY dangerous?? If he was spotted, everything would have gone to hell in a flash. This could be a problem for that theory.

Yeah, no way Mance would risk getting around people who would almost certainly recognize him. Highly doubt this theory is true.

Another great thought that I hadn't considered. I like it. Tell me more about what you think his motivations could be for this??

I'm thinking he's working for Varys and trying to put even more strain between the Lannisters and the Dornishmen.

Last but not least in 15 years since nobody has seen or heard of Howland Reed, even when Robb raised his banners. It isn't because he is keeping the secret of Jon it's because he died at the ToJ.

Impossible, because his children are younger than that.

He was there with Benjen which is another hint in my mind. I think Mance and Benjen were working with one another to gather the wildlings and get them across the wall because they knew what was coming. Robert wouldn't have noticed him dressed as a bard and 15 years after he died/disappeared. There is no way Mance could sneak into a dinner with the king without Ned's consent. Also don't forget the chapter where he talks about seeing Jon and Robb playing in the snow as kids, why would that have stuck out so much to him if he didn't know Jon?

Its more Jaime that's the problem more so than Robert. Jaime would almost certainly recognize the man who knighted him and his sworn brother.

Yeah we talked about that. About the Reed kids though, we don't know how old they are. The speculated age is about 13 but they tell us that craggonmen age fast and grow slow or something like that indicating that they are older than they appear.

For instance, never in Ned's narration does he say he didn't kill the 3 Kingsguard. It was a little frustrating being in Tyrion's head in ACOK and never knowing his plans for the chain, but this would be much worse.

I think I guessed that from the start, just considering how big the chain was. Pretty confident he was going to make it go across the Blackwater and the sick the wildfyre on them. Granted I had seen season 2 before then.

What about The Hound? Do we know what his role was at that time? Also, was the Mountain involved in battles before KL?

The Hound was 13 at the time I believe, so I don't imagine he had too much to do with it.

Agreed 100%.

There are two key things that have me convinced that Darkstar is Aegon VI.

1. The eldest Sand Snake is currently hunting him in Dorne. With all of the other Sand Snakes on critically important missions, I doubt that Obara would be off hunting a "nobody". Doran has given his eldest niece an important role in the great Dornish plot.

2. Doran Martell refers Darkstar as "the most dangerous man in Dorne" - ADWD.

Arianne Martell might agree:

quote:

Arianne Martell thinks to herself that if there is a handsomer man in Dorne she does not know him. He has a cruel mouth and a crueler tongue. He is a cruel man. Arianne considers that if she were to take him as consort her father would question her good sense, but their children would be as beautiful as dragonlords.

I couldn't remember. Guess I was just thrown off by the show, cause he looks like he could be similar in age to Ned and Robert.

Also, can someone please post the link for the Dunk and Egg novellas? Went back through the thread to try and find them but couldn't.

There are a lot of gramatical and spelling errors that kind of make these a pain to read, but here you go:

The Hedge Knight

The Sworn Sword

The Mystery Knight

I don't think its been brought up yet, does anyone think there is any significance to there being 3 horns mentioned (Joramun, Dragon, and a Kraken one somewhere that is referenced I think a few times by Salador Saan) & 3 dragons?

Do these horns symbolize who will be in control of the dragons: Joramun = Northerner; Dragon=Aegon/Dany; and Kraken = Greyjoy?

I guess it could also be that they each just simply control whatever their name suggests. Maybe Joramun will take down the Wall like it is claimed to or just awaken/control giants, and I wouldn't mind seeing Theon redeem himself and start summoning a kraken and running the seas with it. The Valyrians used to control dragons with horns, so maybe these horns will do the same or at least something similar to the creatures they represent. The more I think about it though the fact that there are three is probably just coincidence.

I'm sorry to go off topic but has Jalabhar Xho been mentioned in this thread at all. I just don't get how he can be mentioned in every book and yet do nothing. I just feel like he's in there for a reason.

The exiled guy from the Summer Islands who is always asking for his throne back. He was also one of the people Cersei accused Margaery of fooling around with.

Oh and I just ready back a few pages with the talk of Dayne\Mance, all I have to say is holy crap.

My mancrush on Darkstar is almost as bad as Cotton and Victarion.

Almost.

The really sad part is that there were 3 awesome pages on a sweet arse Sword of the Morning theory - and I just come back with my usual Darkstar "blah, blah, blah".

Just joking, Cotton. I thought Victarion was one of your favorite ASOIAF characters.

That's a pretty good visual.

The Victarion I chaption from TWOW was freaking sweet. He is gonna wreak havoc in Slaver's Bay.

I'm hoping his plan succeeds. Victarion with a dragon and Dany would make things very interesting back in Westeros.

Victarion is top 5 for me. But he is going to get outsmarted by someone which will lead to his death. I just hope he wreaks havoc before doing so.

As far as the wights go, is the general consensus that they are just mindless zombie killing machines or that they are in fact soldiers of the Others (which is what I think). The fact that Othor was trying to get to Mormont leads me to believe the Others has sent him to do just that.
