Ok, try to use your imagination here. Lets put together a new system for soccer here in the states. Since I hate the name “Major League Soccer”, I tried to come up with something new like the American Classic League. Try to take your larger cities and group a bunch of suburb teams within and form new clubs. I used some MLS teams because I like a couple of them, but I tried to be creative and make up my own. When I started to create them, I noticed I had to many ideas so I split the format up between an East League and a west League. Each division is comprised of 20 teams and would play their season against their own competition. The top four teams from East and West at the end of the season would compete for the Classic Cup. The Quarterfinals and the semi’s would both be a home and away draw then the finals would just be one game. Here is what mine look like:
EAST
New York-
Manhattan FC- Nickname “The Governors”
Central Park Rangers
New York Red Bulls
Queensboro United
Staten Island FC- Nickname “The Senators”
Brooklyn Blues
Chicago-
Chicago Fire
Aurora SC- Nickname “The Reds”
AFC Wrigley- Nickname “The Cubbies”
Evanston FC- Nickname “The Saints”
Lincoln Park Commodores
Elgin FC- Nickname “The Victors”
Boston-
New England Revolution
Cambridge FC- Nickname “The Cottagers”
Dorchester Rovers
Fenway FC – Nickname “The Braves”
Rest-
Providence United – Nickname “The capitals”
Toronto FC
DC United
Philadelphia Union

WEST
LA-

LA Galaxy
Anaheim Arsenal
AFC Glendale Nickname “The Metros”
Ontario FC- Nickname “The Packers”
Inter Irvine
San Francisco-
San Jose Earthquakes
AC Cupertino
AFC Oakland- Nickname “The Midshipmen”
Berkeley FC –Nickname “The Foresters”
Houston-
Houston Dynamo
Sugar Land City
Pasadena FC- Nickname “The Roughnecks”
Bay City Hurricanes
Dallas-
FC Dallas
Dallas Texans
Plano Comets
Arlington Spurs
Rest-
Chivas USA
Seattle Sounders
Portland Timbers

The reason I did this is because I feel if there were more teams in the bigger cities, it would create more rivalries and spark more interest with the fans. Plus it would be a lot cheaper on travel...

No Atlanta team.

This thread is useless.

Good thinking, I just don't like the league name.

Why not just create regional leagues so you could organize a CL or Europa type competition?

Also, I know it isn't supposed to be that detailed but where exactly do you plan on some of these teams playing? I don't expect there to ever be a soccer facility in Manhattan, much less 2.

So you create a new league and you still don't put a team in the South?

I say we rebel and create our own Confederate Soccer League.

Atlanta
Nashville
New Orleans
Charlotte
Miami
Orlando/Tampa
Richmond
Raleigh-Durham

...and we'll take the Texas teams with us!

WarSlam, I thought long and hard about ATL and Miami Dade, but passed on it. In the northeast, the cities are all bunch around eachother with the exception of Chicago. I'd love to have clubs all over America and have a four or a five tables system like England. The only way to get there is promotion and relegation over here though

Would be cool to have something like four regional leagues and a Champions League at season's end.

im a dc person and its hilarious places like san fran, houston and dallas get four teams while a huge metro area like dc and philly get one.

Both are cities which support sports way better

Cap Hill United
Georgetown Generals
Potomac Rapids (based in Montgomery County, MD)
