Does anyone know the back story. I read their story in the restaurant but it doesn't give any information about the family. Did they have a previous place? Is this the only location? I like the food but when I ask folks about it, many don't know it exists.

Pretty sure they were some guys who started from this from nothing, liked to bbq at their house. Don't think there was any previous bbq experience.

Thanks for the clarification. Sometimes folks put caps in the middle of their message as a typo. Finally some civility.

Some may disagree, but I find myself to be pretty civil.

Where does this place rank as BBQ in BR? We are not known for BBQ, so does this place stand out? What have you guys had that is good?

I love Voodoo and it does not top them. That said, I liked what I had and plan to go back.

I ate there for lunch once, and got a "Party Pack" to feed a group at a meeting.

Very good BBQ sandwiches - that's all they do. (They only do brisket, pulled pork and chicken). Sauces are excellent (I like the sugar cane - there are 7 different ones).

Sauces

Their baked beans are, truly, my favorite that I've ever tasted. I know that sounds contrite, but they are. Spicy with a sweet tang to them, with meat in them, too.

Very good potato salad...got a tangy flavor that I can't exactly place what gives it that.

The coleslaw was good - not the best I've had, but not bad.

Home Page

They have something called "Bushwood Stacks" - French Fries or Baked Potato covered in your choice of BBQ meat, cheddar cheese and jalapenos. Haven't tried it, but sounds good!

Owner is extremely nice - had a good discussion with him. Wait staff is very friendly.

All in all, I would definitely go back to eat, and I will also use them again for catering. Give them a try!

Hey Bandits. This is the first and only Bushwood so far. My dad broke the family line of farmers when he went to school and I broke the family line of Auburn grads when I went to LSU. So I definitely have that going for me.

Bushwood is just an idea I had so I got a few friends together and we made it happen. We had some good experience competing at Memphis In May and figured we could give it a try. Still learning everyday but hopefully we are throwing out some good Q! Thanks for the nice comments guys.
