**Possible spoiler!??**

Saw this was on so I flipped to and the scene where Harry and Luna are in the forest with the Thestrals (flying invisible horses) was on. It got me thinking...so you can't see the creatures unless you've seen death, but the thestrals were making some whining/snorting noises. So I'm assuming if you can't see them, you can't hear them either? I don't remember if that was mentioned in the book or if it was something assumed.

I'm not sure because the series contradicts itself with thestrals. Harry always believed he rode carriages that pulled themselves. But in the 5th book, everybody can see the breath of the thestrals, so Harry should have noticed that in the first 4 books.

Harry also saw his parents killed as a baby so he should've seen them from the beginning

I think J.K Rowling explained that as you have to fully realize the death or something to that effect. Basically a cop out.
