Why isn't Miles being praised for keeping them in line? Some on here want to bash Miles for not keeping TM7's nose clean, but give him no credit on keeping the others out of trouble.

Some kids can't be helped, and TM7 was one of them.

Agreed

Simon is probably more important than TM anyway even though he won't light up the stat sheet

Seems to me all the fans are praising Miles like he just did something wonderful.

I think TM7 needed more hands-on mentorship. CLM should have assigned someone to stay close to him, but that's about all he could have done.

There's your answer. A person with a problem can only fix the problem is the desire to fix it is stronger than the desire to continue with the problem.

Obviously, Ware and Simon, as far as we know, have done what they need to do and have made choices to put their current and future careers ahead of a few minutes of whatever.

This. Living in Georgia, I got to closely follow the recruitment and inevitable demise of one Isaiah Crowell. He was coined as "the most important recruit in the Mark Richf era". You could see that one coming. I made the comment to a friend last yr that TM needed to just shut up and play ball. I don't mind swagger or an "edge", but there was something off putting about his persona. As far as these "the kid needs a hug" people go, I won't shed a tear. I wish him the best, but I don't know him. Neither does 99% of this board. Most fans dont really "care" about the players. They wanna watch guys run real fast, score td's, win games and proudly wear their team colors, while ragging the guy at the office water cooler. In my eyes, it's no different from a big recruit shunning the tigers. In fact, it's worse because he was more than potential. He proved it on the field. There will still be a season. I'll still drink beer & grill. I'll still watch. AND WE WILL STILL KICK arse! GEAUX TIGERS!

Doubt this would have helped. It's like parents doing homework for a kid who won't do it himself. At some point you've got to give them the opportunity to pass or fail on their own.

more important than the Heisman finalist and arguably best defensive player in the nation? Gotta love the rant

I'd start to worry if we lost Simon. Most underrated person on the team last year.

We'll be fine. But let's not kid ourselves. Tyrann is waaaaaaaaaay more valuable than Simon. Not even close. Get serious. Simon is a nice player. Mathieu is one of the greatest football players we have ever seen.

He supposedly did. They supposedly brought in former players to talk with him. I mean, Frank Wilson is on the staff. I'd be very much interested in knowing what all he did to talk sense into him. But the staff can't halt everything they do for one kid. They have huge demands on their time.

They did all they could. This is all on Tyrann.

Dude. He did. And he did do "something wonderful" by surrounding him with people and counseling. If some people don't get that LM really does care about these kids and their future and takes the steps to try and ensure they have every opportunity to be successful, then they just don't want to get it.

As a cover corner, Simon is better. As a disrupting playmaker who can turn a game around in one play, TM is better. You just can't replace that aspect.

You must be kidding with this comment.

We have young men going off to war every day that are his age and they suck it up and act like men !

The Honey Badger made his choice the first time he chose to do drugs, everyone then gave gim a chance to straighten up and he blew it.

His fault and no one else's period.

No

I mean more important to our defensive scheme in terms of what we can do with our blitz packages and such.

If you don't have a good #1 corner then you are really limited with what you can do. And Claiborne was more important last year than TM. This isn't really that complicated.

Supposedly at some points this off-season the LSU staff had no less than 3 "handlers" who were assigned to try and keep TM7 on the streight and narrow. Its painfully obvious now that this kid was bound and determined to do what he wished. Its a sad and unfortunate tale but some people with the most opportunity and the most at stake simply cannot be helped no matter what is done for them.

But the cover corner is more important. Without good cover corners you'll get torched a few times and have to play vanilla on defense.

Without guys like Simon, guys like TM can't do their thing.

Right. But the one playing the more important position is more important.

Having the best RB of all time on your team is great.

But let me ask you this. Would you rather have the best RB in the NFL and Tebow or have a serviceable RB and Tom Brady? Some positions are just more important than others. Your #1 corner is more important than a nickel rover type guy. That nickel rover type guy isn't even that useful without the shut down corner.

Being the 5th best player in the defensive back field will tend to make you underrated. Damn, the DBs were talented last year.
