Been duck hunting for a while now but have never hunted the September Teal season due to not being able to hunt my lease during this time and not having access to a boat. My dad fixed up an old 7.5 and so me and some friends were looking to start scouting some WMAs. We were probably gonna take a look at Pearl River, Grassy Lake, Sherburne, and possibly Indian Bayou. Just seeing if anyone had heard anything about these or had any advice to start off. Thanks!

Lots of bug spray and watch out for snakes and be careful not to wack woodies and hen mallards? Unless you can wack woodies during teal season like they do in TN.

I'm only going to be able to hunt teal until second split due to shutdown coming up. Thremacell is a must. Also, get your ol' lady to pick you up some amber romance body spray from VS. Don't know what they put in it, but it does wonders for the gnats. Don't wear too much brown leafy camo as everything is still green. I usually just wear kahki pants and a green shirt. Don't know what WMA you are hunting on, but I know Joyce WMA has a no cumbustible engine rule which is bullshite, but whatever. We have done really well the past couple of seasons, but as posted before, it gets hot as hell. We are usually back at the truck at 8 or 9. Goodluck

Hey maniak, you hunt Joyce pretty regular? Is the early teal season worth the work it takes out there?

For sure. I'll still be in my PJs and back in bed 10 min after shooting time.

If PA's there y'all will either:

A) Not wake up

B) Have a limit 10 minutes before shooting time

Yes, I hunt it regularly. It is a bitch getting in, but we do pretty well. There are some islands you can hunt about 100 yards into it. I like hunting the back pond because I'm difficult I suppose. I like it because it's a 10 minute ride from my house, and easy access.
