I just got my yearly escrow statement. Been in my new home 4 and a half years now and every fall I get sent a check for an overage in this account that I return to my lender(been around $300 every year). This year they claim I am short $307. Says there was a property tax increase. $1470 to $1596. Did this tax assesment take place recently from the parish? I thought they were done toward the end of the year? I just had an appraisal done for a home equity loan. Would that be a factor in this increase? Thanks in advance

I can't speak for Ascension, but Livingston is in the middle of reassessing home values and I think they are released in August.....

No. Appraisals do not factor in to tax assessors assessments. You may have just been reassessed. It is suppose to happen every 4 years, but doesn't always get done like it should.

Can't believe Meauxjeaux ain't all over this post like New York Media on Tebow.

Meauxjeaux loves to talk him some smack about ole Dumas Taylor's son Jeff. He's the "Assessor-For-Life" in Livingston essentially.

He's got some interesting stories to tell.

A new assesment not required the taxing authorities probably rolled the millage forward. It's being done all over to get more money to feed the monster

I would bring that appraisal to the assessor and ask him why is his value so much higher

Asking four different people that live within a 2 mile radius of me about an increase today and no one else has been informed of an increase. One even got a overage check recently. what gives?
