Beach/surf fishing in gulf shores

I'm down by the big blue this weekend here on Orange Beach, and me and my friend brought our fishing poles to try and catch a few from the beach. Problem is, we have no idea how to do it. All we've ever done is freshwater fished. Just looking for some tips on how to catch a few.

Not trying to be a smart arse, but your best bet is to work through these results.

Take something similar to this and put #4 circle hooks on it. Use about a 2oz pyramid weight on bottom. Bait with pieces of squid or shrimp. Wade out past sand bar and cast as far as you can then wade back to beach. You will feel fish when it picks it up. Caught ladyfish, sharks, flounder, and redfish last week doing this.

If you want to go fishing, I would give this place a shot
Fishing Pier
Pretty large pier and offer all sorts of tackle on site. Artificial reefs near to attract fish = better than surf fishing IMO (never had much luck surf fishing). Also, search a guy named Dave Thornton. He has some good fishing reports from the pier.
Just putting out a differant option from surf fishing.
