What are the pros/cons of purchasing from an owner vs. dealership?

I know it'll be cheaper by owner, but what advantages do you get by buying used from a dealership.

Thanks!

Pros from owner:
Better price
No frustrating salesman to deal with

Cons from owner:
Doesn't go thru ____ pt inspection
No financing available at place of sale
Sold as is
Paperwork is a big hassle

Pros from dealership:
Goes thru inspection and reconditioning is done
Financing available there
Warranties easily available if desired
Many vehicles available in 1 location
Paperwork is all done there

Cons from dealership:
Higher price
Dealing with salesmen

Not really. It's just a simple bill of sale and signing a title with a notary.

Correction: A bigger hassle than doing it at the dealership. Not usually a huge deal

I used to work in a dealership so I have seen the good and the bad of both sides. It's nice to list the pros and cons of each. Some big cons for 1 person might not be a big deal to another....heck my cousin is a mechanic and he can check out a FSBO vehicle and help me negotiate accordingly or back out of it altogether. Some might not have that luxury. I'm waiting for others pros and cons as well because there are always some that are forgotten or left off.
