1. Darth vader vs Luke skywalker - empire
2. Darth vader vs Luke skywalker - Jedi
3. Darth vader vs Obi wan - new hope
4. Darth maul vs qui gonn gin in tattoine - PM
5. Darth maul vs obi wan kenobi & qui gonn - PM
- this is the only one where I don't mind the flawless choreography because Darth mail has a cool lightsaber. If there were any tension in this scene then it could've been great

6. Anakin vs dooku - revenge
7. Dooku vs obi wan and anakin - clones

7. Emperor vs windu. - revenge
8. Yoda vs dooku - clones
9. Yoda vs emperor - revenge
- combines the worst aspects of 7 & 8

10. Anakin vs Obi wan - revenge

Can't imagine I would change much on that list. I wouldn't even count Qui Gon v. Maul on Tatooine though.

It was the only one that did not have flawless choreography an had a bit of tension

Plus the emperor could discover anakin, he'd get the princess. The bad guys reveal themselves I the good guys. This is the only duel in the prequels with anything going on, even though it's not much

I don't really know anything about the 3 new movies so I can't comment on them. I remember the newest one was very good but none compare to the first three. Obi Wan vs. Darth Vader in Star Wars was awesome including Obi Wan sacrificing himself for Luke's benefit.

I love Revenge of the Sith and the fight with Vader (Anakin) vs. Obi Wan was pretty epic and as for action, nothing in the first 3 movies can touch most of the new movies. The coreography and technology is so much better now, it makes it almost unfair to compare..LINK

Well it's Mark, but yeah I loved ROTS and it had great action sequences. I grew up on the first 3 and while I appreciate the stories, the action sequences don't hold up. Although while watching Empire recently, I got to admit Vader vs Luke was a really good battle and had the most dramatic conclusion maybe ever.. so I'd throw it up there as well..

The language and story of that fight was great. watch how Anakin is the aggressor and Obi-wan is more finesse, timing his attacks when they seldom come...how he doesn't want to attack...but in the end...WAM! the first three were, pedestrian...there were only six steps to it and they could be seen coming an mile away

I honestly did not think that anyone preferred the prequel duels to the originals

Even when I was in denial that the prequels sucked, I hated the light saber duels

Darth Vader vs. Luke Skywalker in The Empire Strikes Back trumps every other lightsaber duel. There is no need to rank the others because the one in Empire owns so much.

This.

Vader vs. Skywalker in ROTJ is pretty legit as well.

This is the correct answer. The first of the new movies Lucas made, with Jar Jar Binks, was so bad it took years before I was willing to watch the 2nd two.
