When I first got my boat I had it propped with a 26p bravo xs. I was running 70 mph @ 5900 rpm's. As most of you know, i do the majority of my fishing in the marsh. Well the bravo xs props are very thin & when you run them in skinny water they lose their cupping very fast. I called the prop guys @ mercury & they confirmed this. The best I can get out of that prop now is 64 mph.

I should also mention that my boat is heavy. 2 power poles, 2 onboard chargers (1ac/1dc) 5 batteries (optima d31's / 2 in back of boat, 3 under console) trolling motor up front. This is going to cause me to lose some speed but I'm only wanting to run around 70 mph anyway.

I am in the process of finding a better prop for my application.

I'm running a 2012 majek extreme 2200 with 2012 Merc 250 pro xs. I ran 4 different props. Here are the performance #'s for each @ WOT.

ORIGIONAL PROP - 26p bravo xs - 64 mph @ 5900 rpm (ran best with jackplate all the way down on 0)

24p Turbo OT4 - 64 mph @ 5600 rpm (ran best with jackplate on 2)

24p bravo 1 - 65 mph @ 6000 rpm (ran best with jackplate on 1)

25p rev 4 - 68 mph @ 5700 rpm ran best with jackplate on 1) ***HOLE SHOT SUCKED BIG TIME***

Both brovo props & the turbo had exellent hole shot. The hole shot on the rev4 sucked but it ran the fastest when I got it on plane.

I took the 25p rev4 to my prop guy & he is going to drill 4 additional 3/4" exhaust holes in it for me. Hopefully the additional exhaust ports will improve the hole shot.

I am also trading the 24p turbo OT4 to a friend of mine for a 23p turbo OT4. I expect that this is going to be my everyday prop.

Anyone have any suggestions on any other props that I should try?

I'll post some performance #'s & videos when I get it all figured out...

It's a shame there is no 24P Rev 4. that would have been great I bet.

Are you against a 3 blade? Tempest comes to mind. They love jack plates.

I really need the hole shot of a 4 blade. I did try a 26p fury & it ran 65 mph @ 5500 rpm's but the hole shot was horrible. It's been my experience that 4 blade props handle much better @ higher speeds also.

Have you tried a 24 trophy? I used them on one of my boats and they worked very well! Liked the load and ran good on the top, might be worth a try!

Power tech props are very meh. Never had one that would run with a mercury or yamaha prop!

Pretty sure it would have to be 17 which would mean pretty turrible top end.

Going to keep searching for a used 19 Tempest.

the rev4 runs really good mid range & top end. Boat control is great also. It's just very very sluggish coming out of the hole. I am going to keep adding more exhaust holes until i get it dialed in. All jokes aside, that turbo OT4 is a bad arse prop. A friend of mine has one on his SCB & is running 92 mph!

Appreciate it, but I just don't want to go new. Not right now anyway.
