For those of you that couldn't believe Miles took Reid Ferguson as an EE....

Taking him as an EE is questionable if it cost us OL Patrick Miller.

He was recruited to be given the job so counting him as an impact freshman is kind of a cheat. I like what Derek Ponamsky said. The next time we hear his name better be senior day in 2015.

ETA: I have no problem with giving him a scholarship, but I also understand people saying you could just get some on team already ti handle that job.

This is the second dumbest thing you've said on the rant, htown.

Did you read the article?

Not only that. Gunner Keil is the one who cost us Patrick Miller. How you could say this, without reading about Fergeson's projected impact as a frosh is pathetic. Post less, please.

Look at what happened to us when we played OU in the BCS MNC. We suspended our #1 long snapper Steve Damen. His replacements, Ben WIlkerson and Gant Petty did just fine; but you need long snappers. Had we not had one, could you imagine that last punt in the game? Putting a guy back there with that kind of pressure could have been a disaster...like a snap over the head.

You're right...not having a long snapper in a defensive game where, you know, you punt often; is no big deal here.

It was a pretty big story before the game. Donnie Jones punted more than five times, I'm guessing. So you decide, was it worth having another snapper? Sure was.

Stop overlooking what the coaching staff needs. If they let a snapper be an EE, then fine, let him. But don't blame him for not getting Patrick Miller.

Real talk: we can't get a long snapper ready unless he is here for spring? Really? Gotta get used to the speed of snapping at the next level? IF the only way he was coming her was if he could EE then fine. But it was probably more of a luxury than a necessity.

Miller is an afterthought by now. Have you seen the depth at OL?

Saw Dural play at BBHS and he is going to be good. Needs to add a little weight, because i think he will struggle physically in the beginning but he is going to be good as a Freshman and extremely good down the road.

I've said this before, but the guy is a long snapper. It's not like it's vital for him to come in spring over say an OL (yes Kiel ultimately screwed us here, but in comparison to Miller) who needs to get into a strength and conditioning program sooner than anyone. Ferguson will snap this year, but being a guy who's done this before, it takes almost no time at all to get timing down between a punter and snapper and a holder and snapper. Not a guy who needs to get in the program ASAP. Ferguson could have came in the summer and not missed a beat going into fall.

How do we have depth issues at DE? No way Hunter steps on the field at DE this year.

Because we do. Mingo and Monty are strong. Edwards is solid but will likely swing inside quite a bit. Rasco is good but still no sure thing. Allen is an unknown, as is Maclin. Hunter could easily be the 4th guy in line at DE. That spells depth issues. Hunter is a fantastic talent and talent wins out most of the time.
