Anyone ever experience a round our stretch of rounds where you all of a sudden start hitting the ball much farther? Clubs or balls havn't changed I am wondering if it is now just hot enough that I am compressing the ball fully or if I really did change something with my swing.

Yes and it's all in my backswing. My muscle memory backswing is too short. When I focus more on going back further I hit it further (when I don't overswing and frick it up)

Well, in the last few weeks it has gotten signifigantly warmer. This is what could be causing your new found distance.

It's never in the backswing. Just saying.

Humidity makes a very large difference.

You can lose it in the backswing. That's for damn sure.

The backswing can have a lot to do with how far you hit the ball, but that doesn't mean the backswing has to be longer.

two things cause this for me:

1. I start hitting the ball on the center of the club face.
2. My hands are in front of the club head at contact.

The backswing can have a lot to do with how far you hit the ball,

The distance the ball travels has everything to do with speed through impact, no matter how big of a backswing you take, if the speed isn't there, the distance will not be there either!

Yes. Last summer we had record high temps. I normally play early morning when it's around 75, finishing around 85. But one day I decided to start at noon just to see what it would be like to play golf in 105 degree temps. It was miserable, but it added 15 to 20 yards on every drive. I normally hit a drive over 300 yards once a round. I hit 6 of them that day.

Just saw this from yesterday and is an interesting topic. I believe that most of the downswing is reactionary. If you put yourself in a bad position in the backswing you are going to have to compensate in the downswing. Compensation in the downswing will slow your speed down at impact.

The more heat, the more dilated the oxygen is in your bloodstream, loosening muscles and fiber tendons. This allows you to make fluid contact with the ball as your swing is faster due to less constriction of the muscles.
