I believe in 2002 when the tigers shocked the sec defeating Tenn in the sec championship game then beating Illinois to win it's first Sugar Bowl since the 80's.

What says the Rant??

I think that was 2001 but the modern golden run started there at the SECCG

The rant says you're a year off. That was '01. LSU's position in the upper echelon of CFB started at the end of the '03 UGA game

that Tenn SEC title game was exponentially more fun than both NC wins for me and I was at all 3.

They choked @ home vs Old Myth the following week then finished 4-7 & 3-8 the next 2 seasons. The dominance started by upsetting #2 team in the polls then dominating the Big 10 champ in the Sugar Bowl.

From an outsider, I thought the spark was upsetting Tennessee in 2000, which kickstarted a decade of dominance.

yeah, the rest of 2000 was up and down, but Saban got his signature win in September of his first year. After the loss to UAB, Saban needed a statement and that was his "I'm here to kick arse" statement.

It definitiely began in the SEC championship against Tennessee in '01. After that game, expectations sky rocketed. We really haven't looked back since besides '08

I'll go with the Tennessee win in 2000 as well. We could never beat Tennessee before that, having gone 3-18-3 against Tennessee in the series. Since 2000, we are 6-2 against Tennessee with two of those wins in the SEC title game and a current four game winning streak against them. Another interesting tidbid, before 2006, we had only won one time at Neyland. Now, we have won two in a row.

I believe that it was the 03 season. I just remember going into every game not even worrying about IF we win, but wondering by how much. The swagger or confidence was definitely there for the entire 03 season. Even in the championship game!
