tomtom GPS is givingme trouble.... help!!!

My GPS keeps saying waiting for valid signal for 2 hours now...I just got itfor christmasso its fairlynew.... I tried turning it on and off a few times... What else can I do to make it work???

Try a hard reset. Also try taking it outside with a clear view of the sky (no trees). If that doesnt work... Send it to TomTom with a letter about what its doing

Give me your exact location as well as the model number and serial number. I'll try a reset from our end.

Try updating your maps and software. I own a tom tom and every now and then I'll have this problem.
Also try just putting it in the car and drive. You may be in a bad area of service.

I tried google. It had all these answers about sprinkling salt and pepper on it, saying 12 hail marys, and doing some indian dances around it... 
I plugged it into my computer and supposedly installed 3 updates. Turned it off and on again and it had a signal. Just turned it back on again after turning it off earlier, and its saying the "waiting for valid signal thing again"
I drove all over today, st. john, st. charles, jefferson parish (wank) so I dont think it was the location. I used my the extra GPS I had in my car (my husbands) so Im pretty sure its just mine acting stupid. :banghead:

Did you do the hard reset?? Depending on your model the reset button will be in a different location, but only needs a paper clip to push the button.
