Why does Cp3 always get benched in international play?

For the most part I have always been in the Williams >Paul camp(although his Nets tenure has left me questioning his drive), but looking back on Team USA play, Coach K always takes Cp3 out of the starting line-up. 06(Hinrich),08(Williams) and now. Also Westbrook is going to get burn, being the Coach K loves him

Coach K also says "Williams has no holes in his game".

Is the consensus about Paul (at least here on this board) incorrect? Or is this just a coach's preferred player? Does this change your opinion of him in the all-time ranks(or does FIBA ball not matter)? Or does Coach K just hate Wake Forest?

I would take Chris Paul over dwill any day but thats just me.. He is the better defender and I would say they are equal in every other aspect i suppose. Dwill prob scores more, cp3 can score whenever needs to I just think he would rather pass (which is a PG's job..)

idk about the past but maybe CP3's finger has been bothering him??

didnt he sprain his thumb or something like 2 weeks ago

When cp3 was in nola most hornet fans hated seeing dwill against the.hornets because he normally got the best of cp3.

I wouldn't quite say that. The Jazz owned the Hornets, but Williams didn't own CP.

Paul vs. Williams head to head

Even if Williams "owned" Paul (which he clearly didn't), Paul performs better against the rest of the NBA. He's a better NBA PG

why do NO people still revere CP3? shouldnt they hate him for forcing his way out of town ala LBJ and clevelanders?

i feel like no matter what happens, chris paul always gets a pass. swept by the spurs? not his fault- he got to the conference finals like 5 years ago by himself. well him, and allstar david west, and tyson chandler-- but pretty much by himself. forces his way outta NOLA? cant blame CP3. loses in the first round most years? but he won like 2 games against the lakers in the 2010 playoffs-- you know the lakers who got swepted out themselves in their next series? he only wins games, has never lost one.

i like CP3, but he headlines my all-teflon list

My best guess would be that Williams is better for international rules. SFP would be a good one to ask on this.

What the Hornets got for Paul (Eric Gordan, Chris Kaman, Aminu, and a lotto pick)

>>>>>>>>>>

What Cleveland got for Lebron
(- Two first-round picks, that must be used starting in 2013 and ending by 2017
- 2012 second-round pick Miami received from New Orleans
- Future second-round pick Heat acquired from Oklahoma City
- Cleveland can also swap first round picks with the Heat in 2012
- A large trade exception($15 million or so) that the Cavs must use in trades for one calendar year)

1. David West was like the last man picked every time
2. David West benefited GREATLY form playing with Paul
3. Tyson CHandlers offense was all CP3
4. Mo Pete was our starting SG... MO PETE!
5. THe GUy averaged 24 and 11 assists with over 2 steals a game. He was on fire.

Didn't CP have the most minutes logged last olympics? I rmr something like that being announced during the gold medal game, but I may be wrong...

What coach K thinks of him doesn't matter much at all to me. He's still the best pg in the league IMO and had two of the best seasons that a pg has ever had all time. Rose was drooled over his MVP season (well deserved), but for two straight years Paul had better season than Rose's MVP year but didn't get the love. He has the unfortune right now for playing for possibly the worst coach in the nba, Vinny del negro.
