That show is gonna suffer big time. He's been out before, and just Gus and Joe is terrible.

Damn! Definitely the best part of the show.

I agree though, good for him. He earned it.

Did they mention on the air that he's leaving, or something? Don't see it on Twitter. Either way, I'm not surprised considering the station is for sale and whoever buys it isn't guaranteed to keep the current format.

is it THAT hard to do a show and be a columnist?

I've seen several guys do it in various places I have lived.

When you work for a small station like that you have to sell ad space when you're not on the air. I think Larry didn't have to though because of the CBS gig and the credibility he brought to the show

He is not a columnist. He is a beat writer which means a lot more involvement w/ the day to day operations of the team. I think if he was a columnist for TP then it would be similar to his current position and he probably could stay on the show.

That being said, I also think it is also partly that TP didn't want him associated with a show called the Sports Hangover.

Interesting.

First, as if his ego wasn't big enough before...yikes....

Second, I am surprised he can't do the show and the beat writer gig. In the modern age of technology, just doesn't seem too tough. But hey what do I know?

Happy for the guy but I actually enjoy the show. Not to sure how it will be with Gus running the show.

Beat writer involves a lot more interaction with coaches players than say a columnist. Plus I think TP doesn't want him moonlighting.

Pretty much. His current gig is a 3 hour show, with hours of prep, and during basketball season he's at every Hornets home game. Plus he takes the time to write back to people on twitter.

Now Larry has rubbed me the wrong way at times. I remember when fans were questioning if Anthony Hargrove did actually say "Pay me my money" he was patronizing fans saying "Yeah, they CGI'd Hargrove lips. Come on'..."

That's besides the fact you didn't see his lips move, and later when the NFL said "Yeah, well we don't contend that AH said that" then Larry was like "Then why is he being suspended?"

I like the guy, but he isn't perfect. He does know the team and does a good job of keeping on top of it.

Say what you want but he never gets too high or too low when dealing with the Saints. He understands the whole reason behind that the NFL's stance on the Saints players and coaches is not based on player safety but on CYA for the upcoming lawsuits.

He is not a fan but yet he also isn't a negative Nancy just looking to criticize after the fact. This is why he is a good journalist unlike the homers on 870 and the complete morons (Gus) and blowhards (Kaare/Asher) on 690.

My guess is it will be Fletcher Mackel in which case 690 should just go to national yahoo radio from 11-2pm.

I don't think Gus is an idiot, but rather he's a fan covering his favorite teams.

Kaare/Asher are two pseudo-intellectuals who love the sound of their own voice.

To me, Larry is a guy with an ego, but at the same time he's a smart guy who'll admit (sometimes) when he's wrong. He still wont concede Eli Manning is an elite QB.

I don't think so either, but he's definitely a top 10 talent.

I'm confused. You hold it against him for not conceding that Eli is elite but u don't think he is elite either? Eli is a very good QB but he is not in the elite class of Brees, Brady, Rodgers, and Peyton though people add him bc of his 2nd SuperBowl win.
