Why are we called this? Whats the history behind the name?
I love corn dogs so it's a compliment in my book.

I heard this the entire time we were in Ttown last year during the game. Finally asked a fan and apparently some Auburn fans were down here for a game, said there was a smell in tiger stadium and no one could figure it out and one said corn dogs. So that's the funniest joke in Alabama. and then it spread. I dressed as a corn dog for the BCS, because I figured I would embrace it. I do like corn dogs. Making my suit better for this season.

I'd rather smell like corn dogs than trailer trash.

I would rather my college town smell like fried food than have a fan base (Auburn) that is proud of cutting and pasting into someone else's joke, in a context where it doesn't even make sense.

(Afterall, anyone want to bet which town Auburn or Baton Rouge eats a higher percentage of corn dogs? Louisiana isn't as big on hot dogs as much as the rest of the South is.)

But they think that kind of humor is hilarious in Auburn. Shows what passes for wit there.

They had nothing on us, so they did the elementary thing to do and make up a childish name. Personally I love corn dogs. I wish we had a corn dog emoticons

I also love the smell of fresh cut grass. Doesn't make it a compliment to be called a yard boy...

I see no reason to be insulted by the corn dog comments, but if you take it as some kind of compliment you are taking it too far.

That is like a gump saying, "i love that movie, what a compliment. Tom hanks is an amazing actor"

I'll have one, thanks!

For real though...it doesn't get to me. It's neither an insult nor a compliment. It's like if someone called me a desk chair or something...it's kinda meaningless. Although, if they insist on giving a dumb nickname, you might as well take it in stride.

Nevbraska is called the corn huskers someone called them corn dogs. Makes sense. Someone (I think auburn) came up with the bright idea that out tailgating smells like corndogs.

It doesn't bother me bc it's baseless. I've only ever seen BBQ, or a Cajun pot cooking. Never known anyone to be frying food...
