Isn't the new restaurant in downtown BR a Tapas place? IPO is the name. Have not been yet.

Blend, which is where the old Wine Loft was downtown, is kind of a tapas bar, with small plates and a rotating selection of wines.

Thats kind of crazy to think Voodoo will open one less than a mile from their Mall of Louisiana location. Can't wait to see how high they raise the prices to.

While it is less than a mile it is more than 30 minutes away.

There was talk of Street Breads opening their second location in Perkins Rowe. The original location in Lake Charles was opened with the intent of franchising. The owner wants to open several in BR and Lafayette.

You'd have to have someone with deep pockets for a startup there. Overhead(rent) will kill an independent.

Its a new Mexican restaurant that doesn't have any previous restaurants, name unknown so far (not sure they know it yet). The BBQ place where the old fish city is will be a VooDoo BBQ.

A real tapas bar

I have a tough time judging the tastes of those in BR. People here turn their nose up at the decent indian food we have here...what makes you think that they'll open their minds to a tapas bar. I'll go a bit further out in the extreme and say that's also why a legit Korean restaurant would never do well here. Too many closeminded customers

I just smother my BBQ in that delicious Crystal BBQ sauce, and it tastes awesome. I don't see how you guys don't like Voodoo.

I haven't lived in BR since law school during the early Pleistocene Era. I only go to BR for business or the very occasional game.

I've never set foot in Perkins Rowe and only have the vaguest idea where it is. I just checked out its website. This isn't a flame, but, man, it looks sort of cheesy and half-assed. Am I being unfair?

No, not being unfair. But I would reserve final judgment until you spend a few hours there. Just go and walk around the shops and eat some dinner...it can be a good experience, but I could easily see how someone could perceive it as you do.

I'd take a mixed-use Perkins Rowe type development over another strip mall any day.
