I guess let's get this thing going. It looks to be an interesting next couple of weeks, especially for my team. But, let's start with Boston looking to deal Carl Crawford to Miami for Hanley Ramirez and Heath Bell.

The Cubs are yard selling everything and Ryan Dempster is probably the first to go, followed by Matt Garza.

The Blue Jays are looking to deal Yunel Escobar.

MLB trade deadline time is one of my favorite short moments in any major sports season.

Ryan Dempster

Anxious to see what kind of haul he brings. Demps is pitching lights out.

Marlins would really help out the Sox.... where would Hanley play?
Middlebrooks has been solid at 3B, Mike Aviles has been better than expected at SS....

So play him at 2B until Dustin comes back? or platoon him?

Hanley would probably play SS and Aviles 2B until Pedroia comes back. That's my best guess knowing next to nothing about Boston's roster at the moment.

posted in the other thread but

There's no current discussion involving Crawford, Ramirez and Bell, ESPN.com's Buster Olney reports (on Twitter). The idea surfaced briefly as a concept and immediately died.

Haul?

I'd say a couple of mid level prospects, maybe.

Dempster to the Dodgers. Garza to the Braves.

I saw that, barry. But hopefully this thread can hang on to the deadline regardless. That's kind of how I meant this to go.

The Cubs will probably eat a majority of Dempster's remaining salary so that they can up the asking price.

I'm not sure if my Tigers will do anything here, but I do find that day interesting.

A name no one has mentioned because it seems almost impossible to trade him has started to surface. That name?

King Felix Hernandez

According to an ESPN article the St. Louis Cardinals are a great fit for Felix, as they can take on his remaining contract, and have the hitting prospects that could get the Mariners to bite.

You don't think any MLB GM's have a little Billy King in them?

Yes he is. And he wants to resign with the Cubs.

Also of note is that Dempster has 10 and 5 rights, so he can determine his landing spot basically. The Dodgers and Red Sox are tops on his list from what I've read over the week. And the Cubs want this to happen by the end of the week so that they can move on to dealing Garza, also from what I've read this week.
