Doubtful Darrelle Revis Shows up to Training Camp

without a new contract
I'm all for players holding out if they deserve more. Football players have a short shelf life and any game could be your last.
With that said, this would be Revis' 3rd holdout of his 6 year career and he just held out for a long term extension less than 2 years ago...This guy seems like a huge pain in the arse from a front office perspective

Last holdout was okay but this is ridiculous.
I can off the top of my head think of 10 NFL players who would have more legit holdout beef (several on the Saints roster alone: Goodwin, Morstead, Graham). There's honestly prolly like 50 NFL players who are so vastly outperforming their rookie deals that holdouts would be legit. At least Revis is making bank and has some huge bonus money in his past.

Jesus. Wasn't his last holdout not last training camp but the training camp before?
That is fricking ridiculous.

Wow....he had public backing last time but he's going to get murdered for this one.

I know this guy is a top-tier corner, but you have to consider letting this fricker sit out this year right?

I have no problem with NFL players holding out. If the teams don't have to honor the contract then neither should the players Revis is a top 3 defensive player he should be paid like one.

good. hold out for the remainder of the contract... then no one will be paying you

neither do i, but revis is not underpaid. He just became the top paid cornerback less than 2 years ago and wants another contract...the jets won't budge this time.

There is always too much drama with the Jets. So begins another year of the media circus known as the Jets.

but revis is not underpaid.
Just on that Sports Illustrated list their were 4 higher paid defensive players and I am pretty sure Peppers, Asomugha and the guy on the Panthers all make more than him also. He is underpaid

So you're saying he should hold out every time a defensive player signs for more money than he earns?

Peppers is a DE so is super Mario. The top DEs will always make more than the top DBs
Nnamdi was going to be the top paid corner. Even revis knew that because he was going to be a FA after revis' deal. If the deal was satisfactory less than two years ago, nothing has changed since then to make him underpaid now. I had no problem with him holding out the first two times but this is insanity
No one is going to side with him and the jets will not cave.

That's what Revis is guaranteed over the next four years, a number well beyond what he was guaranteed under his old deal and more than the Jets were thought to want to give him in this contract. The total value of the deal is $46 million, significantly lower than the $15.1 million that Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha will make. That number loomed as an obstacle to this deal all offseason since the Jets wanted it to be an outlier that didn't relate to the Revis situation and Revis wanted it to be a starting point.
Take the two issues -- guaranteed money and total money -- together and you'll find that this is a perfect compromise because both sides wound up blinking to get it done. Revis or someone in his camp had to realize that, unlike Asomugha, he wasn't a free agent and didn't have the kind of leverage to get those kinds of numbers. The Jets will find themselves on the hook should something happen to Revis physically, but it's the kind of risk you have to take when you believe you are a Super Bowl team.
Now that the upfront money is gone he wants a new deal. frick him

Holding out doesnt bother me but when it's been occuring several times in his case, I don't really support that. Dude's definitely getting paid well, no doubt, no reason to hold out again possibly.
