I would go with baseball for one main reason. They put in so much time. For the average 7pm game they have to show up at 3pm and by the time everything is over they are leaving at midnight. They do this for 162 games. Football would be a very close 2nd because of the long term issues with playing such a physical sport.

Uh you don't even have To be an athlete to play baseball, so rule that one out.

Football, because of the physical pounding.

They play 162 games for a reason. Can you imagine an NBA or NFL season having 162 games?

I would say football because their careers are typically much shorter. I'd venture to say more football players have chronic injuries when they are older due to their punishment in their career.

Football is also the most popular, deservingly so.

I don't think any of them are worth what they are paid. That said, I think that, given the high risk of very serious injury, football layers should be the most compensated.

Yeah, they do show up and stand around for a few hours for 162 days a year.

Please.. Football, basketball, and soccer practices are more draining than playing a week of baseball.

Easily Baseball then football. Plus, baseball players are the highest paid out of the 3 major sports...

Basketball shouldn't even up for this discussion because it really boils down to other things over working hard and becoming great.

Not football but in basketball I would guess they play over 200 a year with pickup games and so forth.

Golf might even be more physically draining than baseball.

Does compute ...

Okay, go practice basketball for the next year straight and then play someone 6'10 in a game of pickup and see how that goes.

Now go learn how to hit a curveball for a year straight, I bet you are better at hitting a major league pitcher then you are against playing pick up vs Lebron.

Watching paint dry might be more physically draining than baseball.

Oh my bad bro, you're right those guys that play once every week or so do probably break a sweat pitching.

catching is just terrible for your knees.

It's football. The physical toll on their body far surpasses the other sports. Catchers get the nod too for baseball.

Nice, so you choose the only 2 positions in the game that are remotely physically taxing to justify the conclusion that baseball is a physically taxing sport.

What about closers who throw 10-12 pitches every couple of days? First basemen?
