Great move by Benson. No one can accuse him of hiring some shill, especially with this on the heels of the PSU report. If something happened, get out in front and deal with. If Freeh gives the Saints a clean bill, this should shut everyone up.

Finally we may get some answers. If he finds nothing it probably wouldn't help with the suspensions but at least we look a little better. If he finds legit evidence then we can all accept it and move on.

I honestly dont see the good in this move by Benson, it can only lead to bad

different situation entirely, I don't think Benson has to make any of Freeh's findings public if he doesn't wish to.

If he finds nothing? Nothing at all? Goodell will be looking at unemployment, lawsuits, and worse.

I do. I think the wiretapping allegations were the tipping point for Benson. The PR was getting out of control, first with Goodell-gate and then the Loomis wiretapping accusations, which are acually quite serious, so Benson had enough and decided to get to the bottom of things. He can then say he made a full faith effort to find and correct the problems if there were any. If the wiretapping is BS (and I think it is), then the egg is on ESPN's face. In either case, he'll get some credit for not sweeping things under the rug (which is exactly what PSU did so the timing for Benson is perfect).
