Nope. I thought it was merely good as well. But I'm not quite the Dr. Dog fan as lots of people on the board are.

Also the best live show I've seen in a long time. The Middle Brother album is pretty solid too with Vasquez's songs being the highlights

I've been to the Dirty Projectors, and the Lumineers this week. I quite like them both.

ETA: and Ty Segall just didn't do it for me. I'll give them another go.

Not sure if you're into them, but I've heard great things about Circa Survives new stuff.

Here is a song from their newest. LINK

I will try to give the album a listen in its entirety when I can. I think you can pirate it now.

I have heard neither their new stuff nor any of their old stuff. I am completely unfamiliar.

Well, other than the link you posted.

For me, Of Monsters and Men and Lumineers are way out front. Andrew Bird was good, as was new Turnpike Troubadours.

Thought Here was weak and could not get into Blunderbuss. Eagerly awaiting new Mumfords and Ryan Bingham, although the Bingham single is horrific.

I'm putting them in tiers:

Passion Pit -- Gossamer
Edward Sharpe & Magnetic Zeros -- Here
Metric -- Synthetic
-----------
Santigold -- Master of my make believe
Beach House -- Bloom
Japandroids -- Celebration Rock
DIIV -- Oshin
-------------
B.o.B -- Strange Clouds
John Mayer -- born and raised
Jack White -- Blunderbuss
The Shins -- Port of Morrow
Cloud Nothings -- Attack on Memory

Next in Queue:
Lumineers
I'll take suggestions from the crowd. Anybody?

Recent albums I wasn't feeling:
Purity Ring (I gave this two listens...wasn't hitting me)
Dirty Projectors (I might could give this one more listen)
Kimbra (got recommended by a female friend who usually gives me good muzak recommendations -- put me onto Passion Pit back in the day, and god bless her for that* -- but I just wasn't feeling it).

2012 "just okay" albums:
Dr. Dog
Chromatics
Walkmen
Temper Trap

_______________
*Though it would have been much better if she would have put me onto Passion Pit and also had sex with me. Really hot girl. And, yes, I tried. Was denied. It happens. I don't like getting friendzoned by females any more than you do, but it is okay so long as you actually made an attempt. If you made an attempt and then failed -- and you got the feeling that persistence might not pay off -- then just go ahead and preemptively friendzone them if they're cool. But if they friendzoned you before you even made an attempt...well, that's just weak. Why didn't you make an attempt, dude? Just try to stick your tongue down her mouth. Worst she can say is no.

If you're not into The Strokes, Jack White, or The Vines then Ty Segall may not be you're cup of tea. Though, he did do one album where it was an homage to Psy Pop music from the 1960s. LINK

I love the new Animal Collective, which comes out Tuesday.

I also heard a few Wild Nothing tracks off their most recent album that sounded really good.

I do like the Strokes and Jack White's stuff. I never got into the Vines, though.

As I said I would I revisited Ty Segall Band, and I think it's grown on me.

The new Wild Nothing album is making a strong push for my top 10. I like it better than his first album, which surprises me.

The last couple days I've been listening to Tame Impala and Grizzly Bear leaks. The Grizzly Bear album is really good.

I saw Imagine Dragons earlier this year (with The Jezebels, who put out an underrated 2011 release). They sure as shite perked my ears up. Great live act on top of great songs.
