Any Suggestions as to where I can pick up some bulk ammo for cheap around the baton rouge area? Looking to put my new XDM through the paces.

LINK

Thought it would link to the specific ad. They have 350rds of CCI blazer in an ammo can for $100

When looking to buy bulk, I just typically get the 250 rd box of Remington UMC at Bass Pro/Cabelas. Around 60-65.

Or just go to Wal-Mart or Academy.

I've been hearing a lot of bad reports about the UMC ammo not being up to snuff lately. May just be the rumor mill churning out bad reports though. I've never had any issues with the stuff.

350 for $100 that's not too bad at all. I'm trying to decide between hornaday critical duty and critical defense to carry for other than range shooting

The zombie max ammo is cheaper and the exact same stuff as critical defense. I bought some Saturday for my new 9mm.

Bryken,
I'm NOT a big fan of Wal-Mart, but I have a really hard time beating their prices for ammo. Last time I bought some Winchester "White Box" for 9 mm I think it was around $22/100. I bet you'll have a hard time finding anything consistently cheaper in BR. The exception being Blazer, which uses a non-reloadable case (although that's obviously not an issue for you if you don't handload). Warning: ALL the cheap stuff is dirty, although some is dirtier than others.

When I buy ammo online it's almost always because that partiacular load's not available locally. Two things to watch for w/ online ammo purchase:
1. Shipping. This can get expensive really quick.
2. I once tried to buy some ammo from either Mid South or Natchez Shooters Supply (IIRC, I think it was MS???) and they charged me an additional $17 shipping/handling for a 25 rounds of ammo! I eliminated the ammo from my order and the additional shipping/handling fee disappeared.

Good luck w/ your search.

Another vote here for WWB at Wal-Mart. It's a bit of a pain, since you have to find someone to unlock the ammo case and pay for ammo at the register in sporting goods, but it's really hard to beat $21-22 for 100 rounds.

Just put a box of these through my XDm, no problems.
