Dont confuse the poor girl.

It's a revolver, there's a long running joke on this board about the "Judge". The commerical shows a 115lb lady blowing up 5 watermellon heads in 2.5 seconds or some shite. It's a fun gun, but not what you need.

Especially if this is your first gun I would recommend a full size semi-auto. Any competent trainer would be able to teach anyone including a woman how to work the slide. A full size semi-auto has a longer sight radius than any of these compact guns which makes it easier to shoot. Also, the felt recoil is less in a semi-auto since the center-line of the barrel is closer to the hand than a revolver, and holds more rounds than a semi-auto.

This is what I have. I like it. About to do my concealed carry class with it.

Thought about a 9mm, but am worried about clearing jams, etc.

can he teach her so that if there is a malfunction of any sort she can tend to that in a high stress situation.

revolver = point and shoot til you hear click. why anyone would recommend a full size automatic to a woman who has never touched a handgun is beyond me.

Is a slide hard to work??

my girlfriend who has been shooting with me for 6 or 7 years can't do it. well let me rephrase. she can but in no way is she comfortable knowing that she has to worry about it in a potentially high stress situation. she prefers revolvers hands down.

What would you do in a high stress situation?
I don't think many if any here would know what they'd do.

i would be confident in the fact that I could handle the firearm because i have been shooting automatics for a looong time.

I know you are supposed to tap-rack-bang to clear a jam, but I have not had to do it when shooting with a 9mm. I would not like to have to do it in a high stress situation. Point and shoot sounds good to me.

Well maybe there is a chance a first time shooter will get some practice before SHTF. My wife just started shooting an auto & i'd bet now she can handle a high stress situation.
We practice alot
