the Black keys have at least 8 songs that are on commercials or television theme songs.
This commercial features The Features.

Modest Mouse- Gravity Rides Everything (Nissan)
The Shins- New Slang (McDonalds, kind of ironic given the “dirt in your fries” lyric)
Nick Drake- Pink Moon (VW)
The New Pornographers- Moves (T-mobile)
Also, Of Montreal’s Wraith Pinned to the Mist was re-written for the Outback Steakhouse them.

That's the first time I can really remember hearing a non mainstream band in a commercial. At first I had to kind of do a double take because I was so surprised to hear a band like Modest Mouse in a car, much less minivan, commercial.

I can't remember what band it was just recently, but someone sued a company because they tried to get the band to let them use of their songs for a commercial, and when they declined, the company got someone to write a song that was almost identical to the one they wanted.

I think something like that happened with Beach House lately.

Heard Joy Division's New Dawn Fades for a BMW commercial the other day. Except it was Moby's version.

I need to start paying attention to commercials.

Neato! That also fits in with my Joy Division thread although it's not "Love will tear us apart". And it's for the best car

Queen's "Crazy Little Thing called Love" plus the hotter than hell brunette eating Lays is my current fave.
****Not to derail, but how in THE HELL did the B-52s miss out on "Roam (if you want to)" in the early cell phone days?!!?
