Bait for Gar?

Youngest son and I have been catching and using live bream as bait for gar. Yesterday discovered that turtles have been taking our bait, as a turtle took a bream about five minutes after baiting a jugline. These are all where we bass fish and 8/10 look like longnose gar and 1/2 look like spotted gar.

Soak some old fishing line in chicken blood or something nasty and wasp nest the line all up. Attach to leader and profit
