i have absolutely no problem being realistic about the situation at Anfield.... not saying you don't either, but i just really don't like your comment, considering you don't know me from anything, so please, PLEASE don't act like you do, chief....
Whoa. A little sensitive I see. Never said I knew you, just know the nature of your posts. Which is generally negative. I obviously hit a nerve, sorry for that. But like I said, since I've seen mostly negative posts from you over the course of the past season, I had no idea you were being "facetious."

Rodgers on Sigurdsson signing with Tottenham
quote:
"We agreed a deal for him to go to Swansea and that was wrapped up," Rodgers recalled yesterday. "I then became the Liverpool manager and that then wasn't something that was going to happen at Swansea so he then had a choice of where he wanted to go.
"I knew what the market was and I wasn't prepared to pay anything over what I had known was agreed before.
quote:
"Liverpool would have provided Gylfi with a wonderful opportunity to perform with a manager that he knows and at a club which is a real footballing institution. But he's decided to go to Tottenham, for whatever reason."

gee.... i wonder why that is? we didn't exactly set the world ablaze, now did we?
when i think of Liverpool and the greatness that it entails, i don't think "man, i'm so glad we won the (get ready for it.........) Carling Cup".... if that's where we are at as a fanbase, we should be ashamed.... that should be a footnote or an addendum to other titles, not the crown jewel of the season....
it'd be like LSU fans rejoicing and dancing in the streets over the Independence Bowl again..... sorry, but we are past that, and speaking to Liverpool again, they should be past that as well....
and sorry didn't mean to come off hard, but i'm pretty jaded around TD.... it seems that, at least on pretty much every other board here anyway, that if you don't sing the praises at all times, while always turning a blind eye to obvious faults of whatever team the masses/topic starter speaks of, then you are automatically regarded as "negative" or whatever, pushed aside as some sort of second rate fan, while all you may be trying to do is inject a sense of reality into the equation..... i may have come off bad, but when i'm constantly having to defend my position it seems, i get a little gunshy.... sorry, no hard feelings i hope...

Im the same way as you. I criticize the squad when they don't perform and praise them when they do. Except I always look at the next match like the glass is half full. If you don't have hope or optimism, why watch?

depends on the match.... i'm not always a "half full" type of guy....

1.) because it's Liverpool....
2.) because it's Liverpool....
3.) you can have hope and still not be optimistic.... it all depends on how much certainty or foreknowledge you have.... for instance, i know jumping off a 30 story building will likely kill me..... now, i can jump out of the window optimistic that i might not die and i can hope to hit something soft, but logic and historic empirical evidence combined with certain physical laws concerning gravity conclude that my hope and optimism don't mean a lot, now does it?

That wasn't a question for you. It was just a philosophical sports question. The day I love hope and optimism is the day I'll stop watching LFC.

BR with the BOOM?
I feel like he's gonna be a great manager.

for whatever reason is like saying "because he's a fricking idiot"..... he should have just said that instead....

Agreed. I have a feeling Kenny would have handled the Sigurdsson situation differently. It just seemed that once he wanted a player, the club put out outrageous money to get him. Rodgers wanted Gylfi but wasn't willing to break the bank for him. We missed him and Rodgers will just go get the next one.

i'll assume you misspelled "lose", and i'll say.... OK.... you do that... i prefer question everything and expect more out of the greatest English team of all time..... what ever works for you, do your thing..... i see a lot of disappointment in your future, though....
however, when you look at things for what they really are (we aren't a top 4 team, as currently constructed, we do have a lot of questions, and we are starting a 3rd manager in 4 years), you see that maybe there isn't alot there to "expect"... now, once we make some moves, and they show me something, i can be a little more, i guess, optimistic about our situation.... until then, i'll be fine calling a spade a spade....

No wonder yalls season long thread are 100+ pages. Y'all just argue. chRisx sounds like a regular ray of sunshine.

Right! I mean, 8th in the league (worst season in decades), greatest player in LFC history resigns as manager, no CL for 3rd straight year and a loss in the FA Cup final. All I've got at this point is hope and optimism!
Realistically I think we make good strides and finish 5th or 6th.

I think by some miracle or from a key signing or two, we make a magical run and sneak into the CL in 4th place.

Top 4 will be really really tough. Arsenal might drop out paving a way for LFC or Tottenham, but I think it's highly unlikely we find ourselves top 4 at the end of the season.

City, and United aren't going anywhere. I can see either Tottenham or Chelsea taking 3rd, with the other battling it out with Arsenal for 4th. I'm not saying we can't do it, but even a top 5 finish will be difficult for a new manager coming in.

I agree. 5th or 6th with good strides and will be poised to compete for top 4 next year. Let Rodgers' philosophy sink in and let some players get more experience. We have a young team.

Another strong Suso performance from yesterday
The kid has skills. Too many "Hollywood passes" for me though.

@PaulRogersLFC
Was lucky enough to spend last 5 days at Melwood working with @FoxSoccer on their six-part @LFC series. Here's 5 things I learnt this week..
1. Lucas so happy to be back in full training, he's like a kid at Xmas. On exercise bike with Carra, Carra said he's 1 of our best players
2. Joe Coles is one of the most popular players amongst staff at Melwood - particularly canteen ladies. Always says hello to everyone.
3. New training regime is very different to recent years. All about very quick passing on mini-pitches with goalkeepers fully involved
4. The last man at Melwood on Friday @ 7.15pm when I left was the boss. He was first in @7.30am. His Fox interview was like hearing Shankly
5. Having been present for every minute of the @foxsoccer filming of the series so far, it's going to be absolutely amazing viewing.
