Obviously not, I know he has a son that has a similar twitter handle. That would have been funny.

The joke is that Adam Morgan (the LFC player and Tweeter) scored 2 goals against Szczesny in the U21s.

Can anyone give me a quick update on where we stand for Europa qualifying?

I know we are in 7th in the table, but if Wigan win the FA against Citeh, they will get an auto bid and knock us out correct (presuming we don't jump Everton in the standings)?

Are there any other teams taking an auto bid that would require us to reach 5th place to get in the Europa?

ETA: I think I may have answered my own question on this but just to confirm:

Swansea city have qualified by winning the Carling Cup, which means we would have to get to 6th to play Europa. Currently trail Everton by 5 points, but we play them and they also must play Chelsea to end the season. Remains a possibility, though a slight one.

If Wigan win the FA Cup, they would then take the spot given to the 6th place team, thus eliminating us from Europa unless Tottenham go winless and we take 9 points from our last 3 matches. Basically, no chance in hell.

Eh, there's a chance. Wigan won't beat City in the FA Cup Final. It's City's only shot at a trophy, I don't see them blowing it.

If we beat Everton this week, then who knows man.

Thanks for clearing that up BEAST, I saw his tweet yesterday and didnt understand it... he sounded drunk...

I dont necessarily think it would be a bad thing missing out on Europa next year, so we can concentrate on the league and domestic cups...

I for one actually enjoy Europa League (except for those summer qualifiers), so if we were to qualify I wouldnt be pissed..

Eh, I'd like to qualify for Europa if possible. If we are assuming that LFC is going to make a run at qualifying for the Champions League in the near future, then the Europa League is great experience. The last thing we want is to qualify for the CL only to get immediately bounced because the squad isn't used to balancing so many matches a season..

I wouldnt be mad, its kind of a chicken and egg thing... I'm assuming we will strengthen the squad enough so we wont have a numbers issue again, but again, it wouldnt break my heart... we have a lot of guys with CL experience..

Wait, I thought the FA Cup runner up gets an automatic bid to the Europa if the winner qualifies for the Champions League. Am I missing something here?

Is it just me or do y'all feel the same and would rather loan off Coates than sell him ... I still feel he can make an impact on this team

Yeah, looks like you are right.

quote:

UEFA Europa League

There are three places available in the UEFA Europa League:
The FA Cup winners will enter at the Group Stage
The fifth-placed team in the Barclays Premier League will enter at the Play-Off stage
The Capital One Cup winners will enter at the Q3 stage

In the event The FA Cup winners also qualify for the UEFA Champions League, The FA Cup runner-up will qualify for the UEFA Europa League, but in the place reserved for the lowest ranking Barclays Premier League representative.

The place with direct access to the Group Stage will be given to the club that finishes in the highest position in the Barclays Premier League of the clubs qualifying for the UEFA Europa League.

If an English team wins the UEFA Europa League they will enter the next season's competition at the Group Stage, gaining an extra domestic place only if they fail to qualify through other means for either of the two European competitions.

If the holders of the UEFA Europa League have already qualified for Europe, no extra domestic place will be gained.

If The FA Cup winners, runners-up (if applicable) and the Capital One Cup winners have already qualified for Europe, their place goes to the next best placed clubs in the Barclays Premier League.

Guess we are pretty much out of Europe for next season.

Okay so what are the break downs ...

Top 4 qualify for Champions League

5 & 6 qualify for Europa League

But if FA Cup winner is already qualified for CL then EL bid goes to runner-up

In essence:

ManUre ~ CL
Arabian Oil ~ CL
Russian Mafia ~ CL
London Fairies ~ CL

Tiny Tots ~ EL
Wigan(By Default) ~ EL

Is this right?

Isn't there a spot awarded to the "fair play" team, or something like that??

I think, and Swansea would get the last spot as winners of the Carling Cup/Capital One Cup.

Swansea also qualified and there is a fair play spot to one of the leagues I believe.
