What kind of message is LFC sending if they try and fight this tooth and nail? Sounds like another PR disaster a la the Suarez racist debacle.

If we want to keep him, they have to... ban is too fricking long and doesn't fall in line with other recent decisions IMO

It's a compulsory legal dispute after being suspended over three times the standard punishment. Nothing more.

TFTC, it will be a sad day if the English drive a world class player of Suarez's ability out of England. Not good for the country, not good for the league's parity and not good for the country's competitiveness with the Spanish, German and Italian giants.

I agree... you know, I've been reading articles from the British press... and many of them are actually falling on the "too long" side of the aisle (from Martin Samuel, too, no less)...

All acknowledge it was a punishable act, but many are stating it's the FA over stepping its bounds and suggesting if his last name was Smith, it would be less...

really good interview with MO and Carra, discussing retirement

LINK

some highlights...

quote:

MO: Your dad goes to the games, though. Remember Valencia? (laughing).

JC: We came out of the hotel for the coach to take us to the ground and all the fans were going mad outside. Then Michael points, ‘There’s your dad’. My dad was on someone’s shoulders, drunk, singing. Not just standing there, but on someone’s shoulders.

quote:

MO: I went to Lilleshall and the head teacher would sit you down and say, ‘We’re not having another Carragher here’. He was a couple of years before me and was supposed to have given them a hard time.

JC: School wasn’t my strength.

Well, yea. It's comical really. Let's review some of the FA's decisions.

Zero-match suspension

Zero games conveniently after Shearer threatens to drop out of the 98' WC squad

8 matches

Zero matches

Zero matches

Chris Morgan fractured a player's skull. No ban:

Three matches

Defoe bite. Zero matches

Zero matches:

Meanwhile in Spain, Pepe gets 10 matches for this:

Totti received 4 matches for this against Balotelli...

He even admitted it was revenge based... Of course, Balo said Totti dropped an N bomb on him which he denied...

Disclaimer:All of the following statements are assuming that the articles about Suarez wanting to leave England are true.

If these are accurate, it goes to show that Suarez continues to run from his problems and demons instead of working on fixing them. He has been compared to a toddler for biting, and now he's going to pack his ball up and leave? That is sure to make everyone feel sorry for him and think of him as a classy guy. I understand that he feels that he is being picked on, but all of this is of his own doing. Again, the FA doesn't make a lot of sense when dealing out punishments, but Suarez doesn't EVER help himself. He acts like a child so they treat him as one.

If you cant understand how someone that went through the Evra incident and the length of this ban, can be considering that he wont get a fair shake in this country, you aren't thinking clearly...

I think most people would consider their future... EPL isnt the only league where he can ply his trade at a high level...

I dont blame him, but hope he waits for the appeal and reconsiders...

He knows he has done wrong. He admits it and apologized for it. That isn't the point.

You look at the Spanish League who gave a 10-match ban to Pepe and he literally kicked a player multiple times, stomped on him and then punched a nearby player in the face.

Answer me this: why wouldn't he want to move to another league where he can at least receive a proper punishment for his crime?

It isn't England or bust for him. He can choose what league he wants to go to and there will be a club with open arms and a fat checkbook waiting for him.

I understand this completely, however he has a problem with taking responsibility for his actions. Honestly, if you guys would take off your Pool glasses for a second, I think you could see how he doesn't help himself in these situations. I'm not saying that defending himself is wrong, but in the biting situation he should have never said he wouldn't accept anything over 3 games. That's not good. Unfortunately in this world it may be best to take a little shite and move on for your best interest. Also, I don't disagree that the FA is more harsh on him, but at the end of the day, if he wasn't crazy and bit Ivanovic, we wouldn't have been discussing this for days and he wouldn't be at the mercy of the FA. Can you at least see that?

How about you don't commit the crime? It's like the guy that commits crimes constantly and bitches when he gets sentenced longer because he's constantly in front of the judge.

Please tell me what in this thread has made you think that any of us think otherwise? We have literally all criticized Suarez's actions to no end.

Well considering it's the first time he was in front of the FA for violent action your point doesn't make much sense.

If his racism ban played a part in this then that makes no sense. It would be like penalizing a robber more harshly because he had previously been in court for a parking ticket.

He plays the game like a street fighter. There is no denying that. The question I asked is knowing how he plays the game himself, don't you think he would fancy the idea of playing in a country where the punishments he would face would be less harsh?

I know he fricked up and should be punished, and so does he... its just the length of the ban... I agree 3 MAY be to few... I think 4 is enough and would have probably winced and shut up about 5 or 6... but 10?!?

There is a bias against him and it's NOT totally based on his previous actions.

I know what you're saying and appreciate your civil discussion the past few days, but I obviously see this from a different perspective...

**To bring it home... I dont see how Hazard escaped a lengthier ban (besides standard red card) for kicking that kid... no matter what role he played in it, but he did... or Ashley Cole shooting someone with a bb gun... It's just inconsistencies that chap my arse

If the FA handed out 10 match bans willy nilly like Goodell, I would hate it, but understand it more...

He's being facetious and you know that.

He also said:

quote:

10 matches would be fair, IMO.

quote:

Disgraceful. I've defended Suarez up to this point.

and

quote:

Please show me one Liverpool supporter who is OK with what Suarez did today. Please show me one Liverpool player who isn't completely livid at Suarez's actions today.
