Psh, Given a choice of MUST having 1 of those 3 on the pitch I'd much rather Jenkinson but we've already had that argument.

Jenkinson does show flashes of brilliance, so there's that. But he still does some frustrating stuff out there.

After that Sunderland performance, I'm concerned how Jenkinson will deal with the combination of Bale's pace and skill. Hopefully he plays more centrally.
I don't hate Per, he's been our second best CB this year, but we need Kos' pace and recovery ability IMO.

Agreed. Bale is playing some great football right now. I think Arteta, Jack, and Ramsey will have to defend like demons in the midfield in order to disrupt the delivery to their strikers and when they aren't able to, they'll have to drop back more in defense.
If we can control the midfield, then it's a non-issue.

If everything that articles says is true then a billion times yes. We've seen what these guys did for PSG and Man City virtually overnight. And Roman did for Chelsea. And Arsenal has way more history name cache than those jokers did pretakeover.

I guess. It'd really only be bad for Liverpool and Tottenham. It'd entrench a top 4. Would increase the necessity for FFP or some kind of luxury tax system IMO.

It would be detrimental to the entire league. How far away from a TV deal similar to La Liga's is the PL? Do you really think these foreign investors are going to want to maintain a deal that sees Aston Villa and Wigan get the same cut as them? Where does the line stop of foreign billionaires just picking a club, destroying the financial system in England? How soon before we have 15 clubs owned by billionaires?
Arsenal doesn't need this. They operate fine as is, and it's good for the game. They value the right things, and silverware really isn't everything, especially for the fans in England. They value tradition and culture - and the integrity of the game. There is no way they would be happy with this.

Blame Chelsea and Man City and Man U and Barca and Real and PSG for blowing up the market like it is. I hate "financial doping" too but unfortunately thats really the only way to keep up with the Jones. Sucks for Liverpool and Tottenham, but shite even Liverpool spent pretty extravagantly their first year under new ownership

Tell that to all the fans calling for Wenger's head. Top clubs ONLY value silverware. Everything else is subsidiary.

You're an idiot. Go read the backlash that has already made its way to the internet. "Silverware isn't everything" rings true, especially for historic clubs. I understand you are too nearsighted to understand this, but people who have been Arsenal fans for 20, 30, 40+ years don't want to see the club tarnished by an investor who wants to join the circus.

I'm not sure how any of those things are fundamentally worse due to an Arsenal takeover. If the EPL ever were to switch to a La Liga style, there's already a caste of top-tier teams (I should say two castes because in terms of popularity, it's ManU and everyone else). If it ever happens, we're well down that road already, and who knows if Kroenke would even support the equitable approach if it became an actual issue. As for the foreign billionaires point, we're owned by a foreign billionaire and our biggest minority owner (who could make as good a/better deal than this mentioned) is top 20 richest in the world. Should probably draw a distinction there. Also, I think it would be very tough to change the current set-up. At least, I thought that's what I read when some were pushing for a change last year.
This deal would put another club on the level of ManU, Citeh, and Chelsea who, if we're being honest, are the only real long-term championship contenders for the foreseeable future. If no spending limits are implemented, it would bump contenders from 3 to 4. If spending limits as currently thought up (FFP) are implemented, then ManU and Arsenal are a tier above everyone else regardless of this deal.

I will be extremely conflicted about this deal if it goes through (though as thenry said on twitter, its only being reported on by tabloids atm) but on the other hand, many of our supporters have lost patience with the "silverware isn't everything" mantra. Considering how many side with Usmanov over Kroenke, despite what an absolute scoundrel Usmanov is, I'm not sure the majority of Arsenal fans would be unhappy about this. I follow quite a bit of angry Gunners though.
The deal would also mean we could no longer hold the moral high ground we claim to hold, much to the annoyance of Chelsea, Citeh, et al fans.

Of course. That's only natural as an observer and a fan. What goes up has to come down, it's the natural order of things. The Celtics, Yankees, Steelers, 49ers have all gone through periods where nothing was won. Arsenal have managed, so far at least, to "come down" and still be a top club. A lot of Arsenal fans take pride in that, as they should.

Except it's not the same thing at all. We "came down" bc we couldn't compete financially with the manchesters, Chelsea, and the two big Spanish clubs.

I've heard mostly comments to the contrary of what you say. Of course, everything is hearsay and this is an unprecedented topic for the club. Everyone will have a different opinion. I talked to my old soccer coach about this possibility (before there were actual reports, just a hypothetical). He is a former FIFA ref and has alot of great insight into the english clubs and the fans having spent alot of time around both.
His opinion on this? There is no consensus. There is no right answer. There are old fashioned fans that want to keep things true to the status quo. There are other groups that want to win at all costs. There are fans that will lose sleep over what they want, because they can't decide.
The fact is "Arsenal fans that have been fans for 20,30, 40+ years" aren't the only voices of the club. They are a specific group with a specific way of thinking. There are just as many fans excited about this possibility merely because it opens up many more doors for the club. The biggest of which is the possibility to win more trophies.
