Glad to hear that much money wasn't kept from making you more of it for too long.

For me, multiple items that I had tried to buy unsuccessfully (confirmed as not purchased by error msg from BLTC) apparently were actually being purchased. The purchase and thus the debit of money didn't occur until some 20 minutes to half hour later. It actually debited me for every attempt to purchase.

I guess the silver lining is that at least I got the items, right?

Yeah i think most thought we were done with these TP issues. I could only imagine the real masterminds with hundreds tied up were feeling a bit sick the last day or so. May be time to go back to just ole fashion farming until this passes over.

Not trying to put on a tin foil hat, but the way the TP is setup the rich get richer and the less fortunate are falling behind quickly. I would consider myself the ladder considering the amount that some others have....maybe this was intentional by Arena to slow things down and try to get the TP to stabilize.

They seem to be pretty ontop of the economy per some dev notes I read.

Figured out how to best use my stun breaker and my aoe interrupt on my guardian. 2handed sword pvp soon

The only class i struggle with is 2-hand mace guardians due to stuns, but win 9 out of 10 due to their lack of healing/cleansing in such a long fight.

Warriors do have a greatsword skill they can combine with a 1-hand mace and shield weapon switch that will wreck you no matter what. If you get retaliation up before they unload you can do some damage, but I haven't figured a way to live through the 2 second burst they do. It happens so quick I'm thinking a keyboard macro has to be used. You'll know it when you come across it. It starts as a whirlwind type skill with the greatsword and ends with the warrior standing over your body with a shield equipped. 2 seconds of WTF was that.....

The rest of the classes go down easily in 1v1 and even 1v2 if they aren't very good.

I had 12s and change in there, forgot about it from the day before.

But, could you explain that "making more" thing please.
Do you sell/list everything on the TP or something like that?

Let me see how I can explain it without putting up a wall of text. Bare with me...

Their are two ways to flip items on the TP, lets call them "High Volume" or "High Reward". I chose High Volume but will explain both.

The "High Reward" method consists of combing through the TP for large amounts of time to find items listed under what they normally sell for. This requires a lot of research and you frankly have to get lucky to find these items. The items are usually sold by someone who doesn't know any better, someone in a real pinch for fast gold, or makes a mistake when listing by not using the automatic price the TP gives you when selling. This can be frustrating and take hours to find items to flip, but can yield big money for very few sales.

For "High Volume" I will use an example. First I go to the TP on the hunt for items that have a large amount listed and sell for cheap. Crafting items are usually the best. I then look at what things are listed for along with the purchase price the buyers have set. If you do not know what the listing fee is buy only 1 and resell to get that price. So now I've found an item with it's lowest listing at 1s and the highest buyer price is 80c. If the listing fee is 10c you have a 10c profit there. I place an order for 250 of these items at 81c since I want them fast and resell below the lowest seller set price.

It's all about moving the items fast (more quantity = high volume of sales). Tthe trick is to not get bogged down in maximizing your profit with this method. Prices jump a lot on the weekend and even though that item was selling for 1s it is now listed at 95c....SELL IT. You do not want to hold out for a better price since sometimes that can take hours and the name of the game is make small profits as fast as possible.

Don't just pick one item. I usually pick 6-8 different items to keep the money coming in steady when some are selling slower than the others. I might only be making 10c an item, but moving thousands in an hour adds up.

This is where both methods benefit from this. I can make 1g/hour using 10g of my stash selling high volumes of items. If I use 30g I can make 3g just by purchasing 750 ore vs the 250 i was restricted too by my own nest egg. For the first method you can buy 30g items and flip them for 40g in a matter of a couple days (see Exotic Weapons for the Legendary Crafting for a good example).

Both take a little time to figure out, but it's very simple once you've found what suits you best. Someone playing 10 hours a day has nothing stopping him from doubling his gold with the exception of the total supply on the TP at the time he is flipping. Luckily their is so much Supply I don't believe anyone can ever control one particular market and hold the server hostage.

Be mindful their are people in every game that enjoy playing the AH or TP more than the actual game. This will always be. Those are the people I talk about above with hundreds of gold already in this game. I've talked with a few, but unlike other games where they do it to control the AH, ArenaNet has the TP setup where this is almost impossible. Allowing buyers to set prices along with sellers keeps the middle ground.

Many thanks.
I started reading about that after I asked you and that seems to be the deal.
I don't know if I am that interested but I believe doing some of that will benefit me along the way.

The dye pack thing makes me more money than any single thing so far. I opened one and got the gun metal color I liked and have sold every single one since then for 5s and some copper.

Repairs eat me alive some times though..

i only do it when I want to upgrade my character. Last weekend i spent 3.5g on exotic runes and sigils for my magic find set. Before I bought I spent a few hours playing the AH to cover that cost. I just do it as I upgrade so I don't feel like it's a job.

SHEEEIIIT. It is what it is I recon.

On a side note.
I pulled a bunch of things out of the guild bank, mostly low level upgrades that really should have been in people's personal bank, and some crafting supplies that had been there forever.

I can use a few of these items for myself and the rest I fully intend to sell.
In return I deposited 20 silver into the guild bank, which I thought was a pretty even trade?

The items I pulled, according to their mouse over value, TP is down again, was 14s and 596c which I thought add up to 19s 96c.
If I need to add more just let me know.

Most of the items in there simply need not be there, lower level crafting and upgrade stuff.
I know I'm not in charge of any of this but the space we have could be better used with different type items, maybe the head knockers could give us some direction.

Anyway, I figured the coin may help in the upgrade department, all though I am probably wrong.

The man said, don't remember which one, that if you don't have access you haven't complained about it.

I suggest we cast aspersions on their sexual proclivities towards certain female members of their immediate family, the mudda frackers.

I went to put some more valuable items in the other day but we didn't have the space. I didn't want to remove the love level cheap stuff in case someone needed it. Maybe we can designate someone as bank keeper who give it a good cleaning once a week.

I really want to play this game but have never played a MMO. I've always been a RPG player, BG, NWN 1 & 2, Elder Scrolls and such, all on PC, never had a console.

I have watched a ton of live play and uploaded stuff of GW2 and it looks like I've got the fever.
Question is, is this game one of those with a steep learning curve or can this old grey beard (I'm 54) play along and not look bad stupid?

So WoodCrafter what do you think of your choice to play the game?

I am having a blast.
I have had to adjust the way I play because of the other players, which is good.

I always could mod something into my games that I liked better than "stock" items, but enjoyed playing straight up the first play through.

With GW2 it is always a straight up game, but you can always count on someone to lend a hand when you are in way over your head. I think the cooperation and kindness in the PVE is great, haven't played PVP or WVW yet, I will as soon as I get a good grasp of what I need to bring to the table.

I can't speak much on MMOs, this being my first, but I really like the game and would say to all those who are still on the fence, buy it.
You don't have to spend a penny more than the game cost you to play and win. Plus, there are a whole lot of people who will help you out of a bad spot for no other reason than they WANT to. Hell, rez'ing someone doesn't give you enough XP to register on the bar.

Good folks, good fun and kicking bad guy arse. Every thing else is just flavor, to a high life man.
