Tarmoh only reluctantly agreed to a runoff in the first place. She felt that she won her spot fair and square on the track eight days ago.

"In my heart of hearts, I just feel like I earned the third spot," she said Sunday. "I almost feel like I was kind of robbed."

Tarmoh leaned across the finish line and looked up to see her name on the scoreboard in the third spot behind Jeter and runner-up Madison. The 22-year-old even took a celebratory lap around the track, waving an American flag. She received a medal and conducted a news conference.

Then she found out about the dead heat.

Sad, sad, sad. A runoff would have been fun to see.

there's no reason not to run for the third spot.

concession makes her look like a coward.

Wow. She was afraid of competition. This would have been good for her and the sport, regardless of the outcome.

More people knew about the runoff and the dead heat than who actually won the race.

I just don't understand how she coul just concede..like get over that they didn't make you a winner and win it in a runoff

All it would have taken is one glance at the photo to change this feeling

What was she going to do at the Olympics? Not compete? It's track...you have to constantly go out there and reprove yourself.

She must feel like she ran her best race and wants to hold onto this perception that she's the true winner. Strange...she loses nothing by running.

Fight on, Felix.

Do I get to say Texas A&M is afraid of USC now?

Really strange. Why would anyone concede if they felt in their "heart of hearts" they'd earned their spot?

I had a friend text me that he thinks she might be on PEDs and she's trying to quietly go away before she gets busted. I don't know how often they test in T&F, but I guess it's possible.

"Felix graduated High School in 2003, making headlines by forgoing college eligibility to sign a professional contract with Adidas."

It's quite humorous that you claim her when she went pro out of high school....

After Felix smoked everyone in the 200 on Sunday, I probably would have backed out too

I'm sure sponsors paid her off. Felix is more marketable.

It's quite humorous that you did not read the very next two sentences.

" Adidas paid her an undisclosed sum and picked up her college tuition at the University of Southern California.[9] She has since graduated with a degree in elementary education."

Shes with Nike now screw adidas.

Does she count for the massive Pac-12 medal count?

ESPN will run this story as a great leap for equal rights and Title IX.

Great she still never ran track for USC. Maybe if she does big things in "elementary education" you can claim her LMAO.

Until then stop trying to act like she ran track for USC and reps them. She doesn't wear their colors at meets scrub.

I think Tarmoh knew she was going to get her arse absolutely handed to her on primetime
TV. And that's not good for sponsorship. Felix had been running really well and Tarmoh had choked in a couple races (I think she's still going as a relay leg though).
