Portland Trail Blazers restricted free agent forward, Nicolas Batum, has been contacted by the Minnesota Timberwolves and what is being called a "serious offer," has been made and discussed and the two sides will meet in Minnesota later today to deliberate on it further, according to a source very close to the situation.
The detailed figures that are being mulled over is a four-year, $45-50 million deal.
The New Orleans Hornets and Toronto Raptors have also reached out to Batum's agent, Bouna Ndiaye, and meetings with those teams have been agreed on and will be scheduled shortly after the Minnesota trip, a separate source said.
Keep in mind that the Trail Blazers can match any offer Batum receives out on the market and offer sheets can't be signed until July 11.

Last season, Batum tallied career highs in points (13.9), rebounds (4.6), blocks (1.0), and steals (1.0).

You guys still wanna go after him?

How about a 4 year/38mil deal

Is he in it for the cash or for the rings?

I think Portland would probably match that deal.

I still would really like him but that might be a little too much for him. We don't want to lock ourselves into bad contracts while we're rebuilding.

What we don't know is if he even wants to play for us. If he wants rings he will take a QO or ask for a sign and trade with us. If he is in it for the cash then he should go to The T-Wolves.

Wow. 12+ per. I'm higher than most on batum but that may be a lil too rich for even my blood.

Hollinger is saying 4 year 44 mil.

And the TWolves have a better team than NOH. If he "wants the rings" he would probably just go there and get paid.

There's not really much of a difference between the two. Hornets probably have a higher ceiling but the Wolves are young and would have caused some teams trouble in the playoffs. They also have a legit top 10 player, which Gordon MAY become if he stays healthy, but isn't there now.

It looks like its damn near impossible to get ANYONE for a decent price, fricking NBA. Is there a league with more bad contracts per capita?

Baseball has a shite ton of players that dilutes it; however, they have the worst contracts in US sports (I don't know enough about foreign leagues).

T Wolves are not better than NOH and not being a homer. I think Houston is better than them. Love, Rubio, and Btum will not win one. Gordon,Davis,Rivers,Batum can. Portland has a better shot with Batum, Aldridge, Lillard, Leonard they have the firepower to win one more than
Minnesota.

Pekovic (27mpg, 14/8, 56% shooting, 74% FT) is better than any center Portland has (unless you want to consider Aldridge a center). Love is a smidge better than Aldridge. Rubio proved to be a pretty good player last year, which is a huge question for Lillard given his competition in college. They're a deeper team, too.

I think you're being a homer...Let's wait to see Davis and Rivers play before we say they're better than proven players in Minny...They were a playoff team before injuries.

am I missing something? Don't they have Beasley? Why are they offering a huge contract to another SF?

Beasley is gone, but they have Budinger now, who is pretty solid in his own right. I think they would start him at the 2 and and Batum at the 3. Neither of those guys are great at getting to the rim, though.

No question he is a great talent, but I would prefer to wait until next season's FA crop. There are a ton of very talented guys, and perhaps with the pieces we already have in place, a couple of guys get together and consider making us a "Miami" type of destination to battle in the West.

If two key FAs were willing to take just a little less than the max, with the talent we have on this roster, we could become a fricking dynasty.

Yea that's why I said per capita, MLB was my first thought as well.

Would it be possible for the Hornets to go after Batum by backloading his contract to where Portland won't have money down the road to pay him and Aldridge similiar to what the Rockets did with Asik?
