Since you can't get any rational answers from people up North, how does the South feel? With all the new evidence surfacing about the emails from administration stating they were aware of the situation, should the NCAA even be involved, or does The NCAA need to make a statement?

I don't think the players and the new head coach should suffer for others mistakes. I haven't been keeping up with the situation much though so....

They should shut the whole school down as far as I'm concerned and reopen it in 5 years under a different name.

Yes. This goes beyond lack of institutional control. Hell, they had control. They were all complicit.

These emails have completely changed my opinion. I hate to say it, but - yes, they should get the death penalty. From the appearances, the football program influenced the administration NOT to report the situation to child services. Despicable.

I think if you look at it from a big picture point of view, placing sports-related penalties against the school misses the point and drags a horrible tragedy into a realm of debate that does a disservice to the victims and their families.

I don't think it has as much to do with football as it does with the entire athletic department. If they get the death penalty it should be against the entire athletic department. And I don't think that is fair to those that didn't do anything wrong. I believe this is a legal issue and those that knew and covered up deserve to be arrested and probably will be.

I don't think they'll get the death penalty. I do think the victims should sue the university into third world poverty for trying to cover this up

The NCAA should not act. But the academic accreditation organizations should. They should investigate and determine penalties and corrective actions.

The problem is the accreditation agencies themselves are often corrupt and incompetent.

I doubt any school will get the death penalty again. And I think you already have to be on probation to even be a candidate for the death penalty which Penn State was not.

Agree with the poster who said let the legal system handle it. If there really was a cover-up then there should be more people going to jail and lots of civil suits.

the death penalty is the last thing Penn State should be concerned about. They're about to be taken to the cleaners by all the civil suits that will be coming their way. Not to mention the fact that a lot of their donors will stop giving money to the university after this disaster. They will be in a world of hurt, that I can assure you.
