Name a band that you didn't think would last but did, in a big way

I remember thinking when I first heard Green Day, they will never last. Something about out how Billie Joe acted on stage felt contrived to me and the music felt the same. They eventually grew on me. I saw them at Lollapolooza in Dallas and I knew I was wrong.

Same with Weezer, I dig them now as well

Radiohead

I didn't care at all for their song Creep. I still don't. The rest of their stuff is awesome.

FWIW, I can't stand Greenday or Weezer. Maybe I need to see them live

Radiohead. I thought Creep just screamed "one hit wonder". Now, one of the biggest bands on earth.

Aerosmith. Never thought they would have made it big out of the 70's.

Winner. I thought his 15 minutes were up 12 years ago.

I agree with Radiohead. They seemed pretty standard as compared to other stuff coming out in 93.

PERSONA is what did this. Their music changed BIG TIME, But Steven Tyler kept it going with PERSONA.

The Aerosmith of the 70's were EPIC compared to the rest.

Green Day is a pretty good answer.

I never expected Katy Perry to make it past her novelty song about kissing girls. Well, it turns out she can actually sing, and her GLORIOUS rack didn't hurt either.

The world is a better place for having Katy Perry('s tits) in it.

Katy Perry is a great choice. I heard that "Ur So Gay" song and was shocked she had a record deal. "I Kissed a Girl" seemed like it would be her only big hit.

Blink 182 is another one.

I really liked the Dookie album from Green Day. It had some great songs with staying power so I'm not surprised they had several hit CDs. But I'm surprised their biggest CD came out about a decade after Dookie.
