How does Affirmative Action affect this? If we did have a handshake agreement with a coach, would we have to conduct a horse and pony show and interview an American Eskimo and Charlie Strong before we can announce the hire?

With the way things go now days, you won't see coaches lined up outside Long's office in the Broyle's center waiting for their turn at an interview.

I guess someone or a media member could FOIA Long's notes/phone records in regards to the coaching search and find out he contacted the usual suspects of the agent world.

I wouldn't recommend it.

There comes a point where a sane person has to realize they aren't helping in matters...

I expect those notes are drafted and kept by an attorney and thus protected through client-attorney privilege.

If the 10 day timeframe is accurate then I'm skeptical it's Patterson, Peterson or Gundy because all three play next week and I just don't see any of them leaving before the last regular season game. Bowl game, yes, but not a regular season game. The 10 day would allow a few days after next week's games so I'm betting it will be a Monday 12/3 announcement regardless.

I believe the 10 days specifically does come into play for those coaches with games next weekend. Otherwise we're hearing it sooner.

Contradiction: My gut tells me Long starts making official contact in 10 days with an announcement a couple days later. This agrees with your point.

It will be fun to watch!

Hopefully, saw on HV where the shorters (anti-long people, the name fits, and I'm naming them) were scheming this.

These people are so short-sided its amazing how much damage long term they are willing to inflict because they did not get their way short term, but we saw the lengths they would go while Nutt was here so I should not be surprised, I suppose.

An FOI can only access so much information, it doesn't give the requestor access to privileged or protected information.

Ex: attorney-client privilege.
Ex: personnel files
Ex: HIPAA

I know, but they don't, just like they don't realize that they wouldn't be accomplishing anything but becoming a nuisance or hindrance for someone who could otherwise be doing something productive.

They still can't grasp the moral vs ethical concept and how they are two separate issues...

They were harping on Long because he continues to make it a point to express the importance of hiring a coach who graduate players and of course that reduces to Arkansas never winning a game again but all players leaving with degrees like, hell I don't know I'm sure there is a NAIA school out there where that is true, but I typed out a long argument explaining how the smaller universities are going to use the APR to even the playing field in the future similar to how the NCAA used scholarship limits, but it fell up on deaf ears and was ignored, sigh.

It is a moot point now (not mute, for those of you keeping notes at home), but had Arkansas finished the season with 5 wins and had an APR score high enough (we don't as far as I know, again moot point), Arkansas would have been eligible for bowl selection due to the amount of schools failing to qualify for bowl games and the amount of schools who are eligible but facing bowl bans currently, just an example of how important academics can be, these are after all institutions of higher learning, not pro sports teams...

Paraphrasing from a source I actually find reliable and is most likely legit considering what major booster he works directly for.

The HC's name has been leaked already to the public and has been floating around for a while. The AD tightened up security right after it happened.

Believe me don't believe me doesn't matter. Do have a Q for you fay people. Didn't someone say a few weeks ago that they had really tightened up security up there? If so when did it happen (General date).

That was Stonehog. Of course we had a bunch of games on the road and the LR game so I'm not sure security getting stricter in the BAC for the Tulsa and OM games is a good indicator. They might have upped protocols in the month prior. Maybe the coaches got sick of the CBS crew and put them on the outs.

I'd be cool w/ any of the guys the most smoke has been out there on.

Don't worry everyone, Hogville now assures us it is Urban Meyer.

Urban Meyer.

I mean, it's getting easier and easier. The farther we go, the larger the lie the masses will believe. There's got to be some sort of Ph.D. thesis on this.

This was posted on 247 tonight by some guy. Who knows if it's legit or not.

This is a guy who is as wired in as wired in gets. Is on a first name basis with every significant person in the state of Arkansas since about 1970. Watched the LSU game from the chancellors box. Works for a BOT. Knows all of them.

We talked about the coaching search at length. And he doesn't know any more than u could glean off the Internet. He has heard all the rumors, and all of them - including gruden, Peterson, gundy and Patterson- are talked about among the people he talks to. He heard from some of gearharts people an announcement in 2/3 days but heard from others it may be a couple weeks.

My source isn't happy about not knowing - and there are people on the BOT who give millions of dollars and don't know and they aren't happy either but that's how this search is rolling. And that may very well be for the best.Point of story. Long isn't talking. He isn't talking to the. BOT. Or at least not the full board.

This is all long and all locked down.People who "should know" don't really know.If this leaks it will be from the other end.

My advice - take everything with a grain of salt. Even the most wired in people in this state don't REALLY know.
