So Congress just released a ton of docs that they have on F&F;

I think Issa gave Holder the rope...

Senator Chuck Grassley, ranking member of the Judiciary Committee, has been investigating the government law enforcement strategy of allowing guns to “walk” across the Mexican border to drug traffickers for the past 18 months. He and his staff have obtained several key documents through their investigation. Links to key documents with a description of the importance of each follows here.

At least 281 Reports of Investigation (ROIs), drafted by ATF agents, including the “smoking gun” ROI referred to by then-Acting Director Kenneth Melson in his July 4, 2011, transcribed interview with congressional investigators
[*] Fast and Furious Case Management Log, October 31, 2009 – January 19, 2011

[*] All Fast and Furious Operational Plans

[*] Six wiretap application summaries written by DOJ’s Office of Enforcement Operations (OEO) and provided to Deputies Assistant Attorney General for approval to forward wiretap affidavits to the court*

[*] FBI 302s (Investigative Summaries) from 2010 provided by the ATF case agent to ATF Headquarters after the indictments relating to individuals who other law enforcement agencies knew had been purchasing weapons from Fast and Furious targets.

[*] The file maintained by the ATF case agent, which she referred to while being surreptitiously recorded without her knowledge. She claimed on the tapes that the file was for her protection and that if any agency were to be sued over the case, it would be the FBI.

[*] December 16, 2010 e-mails from the Group Supervisor to the SAC and the ASAC regarding charging Fast and Furious straw purchaser Jaime Avila, including not charging Terry murder weapons to Avila “so as to not complicate the FBI’s investigation”

[*] December 2, 2009 briefing paper and list of investigative steps taken, e-mailed up the chain from the case agent to the Deputy Assistant Director (DAD)

[*] January 2010 e-mails from Special Agent in Charge (SAC) regarding license plate recognition in Fast and Furious

[*] January 2010 e-mails from Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) regarding approval of Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) proposal

[*] February 5, 2010 cover memorandum requesting authorization for Title III wiretap, e-mailed from the SAC to the DAD

[*] February 2010 e-mails between the SAC and the ASAC regarding evidence of straw purchasing

[*] March 5, 2010 PowerPoint presentation given at ATF headquarters with DOJ Criminal Division representatives present

[*] March 2010 e-mails between the Group Supervisor and the FBI Assistant General Counsel regarding placing straw purchasers on National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) watch list

[*] March 2010 e-mails between the Group Supervisor and ATF intelligence analysts regarding ATF Phoenix providing case information to headquarters

[*] March and April 2010 e-mails between the Group Supervisor and others regarding wiretap affidavit and U.S. Attorney’s office delay*

[*] April 2010 e-mails from the Group Supervisor to El Paso, Texas law enforcement regarding Fast and Furious connections to Texas

[*] April 2010 e-mails between the Group Supervisor and ATF intelligence division regarding border crossings of straw purchasers

[*] July 2010 e-mails from the SAC regarding State Department cable and impact of Fast and Furious on international trafficking situation

[*] March and April 2010 e-mails between the Group Supervisor and Special Operations Division regarding GPS tracker for insertion into one firearm

[*] December 22, 2010 e-mail restricting access to Fast and Furious case file to limited group

[*] January 4, 2011 e-mail from the SAC regarding talking points for the Deputy Assistant Director

[*] January 26, 2011 e-mail from the Assistant Director to the SAC asking for Fast and Furious long gun information to support Demand Letter 3 (requiring gun dealers to report multiple sales of long guns)

[*] February 1, 2011 e-mail from the Group Supervisor to various ATF leaders blaming Assistant U.S. Attorney for problems with Fast and Furious

The reason that Congress stopped asking for the documents prior to Feb of 2011 and only want them after that date is because most of the others have already been provided by whistleblowers...

I don't think so, the 1300 are going to show how the DOJ planned damage control after the inquiries from Congress started...

No time tonight, but I will through out a theory in the next day that is getting traction about F&F and direct sales of guns to Mexico that increased drimatically under the Obama administration. F&F couldn't put enough guns in the hands of the cartels to get the desired results. The US government then sold arms directly to the Mexican government knowing that about 50% would end up in the hands of the cartels...

I get the impression that libs have no idea what kind of weapons were involved with the "gun walking" scheme.

That's a .50 cal machine gun... the kind that our ATF was handing over to Mexican drug cartels.

Guns kill people, right libs???

Sums up what to me is so interesting about divisive panderers like those in this administration.

Their effort is to divide and conquer. Period.
They really do not give a damn about the folks "being helped" other than they serve as effective pawns in a game. Same thing with Black Americans. The message is clear: Stay on the dependency plantation and we'll help you stay dependent. Leave it, and you're on your own, Uncle Tom.

Don't think.
Don't look at results.
Listen to the hypnotic drone . . . weeee care, weee care, you'regettingsleepy . . . . weee care, verysleepy, weee care. Don't bite the hand that barely feeds you. Just vote Democrat.

So, out of one side of its collected mouth this administration proclaims support for Mexican immigrants. Out of the other side it devises a scheme designed to weaken 2nd Amendment rights by distributing US guns to Mexico. The known all along was that those guns would lead to the death of thousands on "potential immigrants." That was the point. That was the impression F&F was designed to leave.

Now these hundreds/thousands of Mexican civilian casualties secondary to cynical US policy are simply written off by the MSM as victims of the drug war. 55,000 deaths in 6 years. How many of those were at the hands of F&F guns? Has ANYone asked? Meanwhile, Congressional GOP nitwits are focused on the very sad but far less consequential death of one single borderpatrolagent white guy.

Very interesting point. If just a fraction of what you just said is validated by concealed documents, this could be potentially one of the most damning scandals ever.

The question now is: how far will Issa take this? Or how far will the speaker let him take this? Will they stop at Brian Terry's death? Or be willing to explore the broader cover-up? Very uncertain times ahead. Never even thought of putting the two together, namely, the spike in violence in Mexico the past few years, and F&F could be connected

People thought that Nixon was an emperor forty years ago. Why is there no outcry from the media NOW?

Lulz. Have to irradiated the documents?

The truth is the DOJ lied and was committing illegal acts that have gotten innumerable innocent civilians killed.

And Obama is neck deal in it.

I see the point you are making; however, I am going to have to disagree ... unless, of course, by "far less consequential" you are not implying inconsequential ... which I don't think you are.

As a parent, I can't imagine what the Terry parents and family must be going through ... to have their son killed with a weapon directly linked to the very government that he faithfully signed up to serve ... and then to have the same government hide the truth of what happened, thereby making the healing process impossible so long as no closure can ever be reached.

But, yeah ... Mexicans should sure as hell be pissed off ... not to mention Hispanic voters, illegals, etc. ... and the Congress.

On a secondary note ... shooting a .50 cal machine gun is one of the most awesome things I've ever done.

Mitt Romney should have stepped up in front of that Hispanic group the day after Obama tried to buy them with his 'Dream Act' lite...and flat out accused him (Obama) of having NO RESPECT for the most vulnerable of Mexicans.

Obama dumped 50cal. semis into the hands of drug cartels, who then killed hundreds of Mexicans...and only shut the operation down when an AMERICAN was killed. If Terry hadn't been killed, the thing might still be going on.

Mexicans should not only reject Obama's condescension and utter disrespect in trying to buy them with something that they will get anyway, when the Tea Party takes over...but they should tell Obama to go to hell. And if he and Holder are found malfeasant in those memos...sue the pants off both of them.

This will be worse than the Bay of Tonkin. Obama and Holder were after OUR GUNS. And we all know why. Becoming pretty obvious...to them that have 'eyes to see'.

"A free people ought not only be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of Independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government." George Washington

Where are all these guns in Mexico coming from? This is from 2009.

LINK

quote:

So where are these military-grade weapons really coming from?

The deadliest of the weapons now in the hands of criminal groups in Mexico, particularly along the U.S. border, by any reasonable standard of an analysis of the facts, appear to be getting into that nation through perfectly legal private-sector arms exports, measured in the billions of dollars, and sanctioned by our own State Department. These deadly trade commodities — grenade launchers, explosives and “assault” weapons —are then, in quantities that can fill warehouses, being corruptly transferred to drug trafficking organizations via their reach into the Mexican military and law enforcement agencies, the evidence indicates.

“As in other criminal enterprises in Mexico, such as drug smuggling or kidnapping, it is not unusual to find police officers and military personnel involved in the illegal arms trade,” states an October 2007 report by the for-profit global intelligence group Stratfor, which Barron’s magazine once dubbed the Shadow CIA. “… Over the past few years, several Mexican government officials have been arrested on both sides of the border for participating in the arms trade.”

Ever hear of direct commercial sales of guns?

LINK

quote:

Yet the U.S. has approved the sale of more guns to Mexico in recent years than ever before through a program called "direct commercial sales." It's a program that some say is worse than the highly-criticized "Fast and Furious" gunrunning scandal, where U.S. agents allowed thousands of weapons to pass from the U.S. to Mexican drug cartels.

quote:

Here's how it works: A foreign government fills out an application to buy weapons from private gun manufacturers in the U.S. Then the State Department decides whether to approve.

And it did approve 2,476 guns to be sold to Mexico in 2006. In 2009, that number was up nearly 10 times, to 18,709. The State Department has since stopped disclosing numbers of guns it approves, and wouldn't give CBS News figures for 2010 or 2011.

With Mexico in a virtual state of war with its cartels, nobody's tracking how many U.S. guns are ending up with the enemy.

How old are you? The Nixon years brought out a wealth of mis-deeds. The same amount of shite was unearthed by Billary but never adjudicated, and now the Oboe has gone for the glory of wling upon water.
