I just called to complain about Dish possibly not having AMC at the end of the month, and the customer service rep said Dish and AMC have successfully negotiated a contract. Anyone else hear about this or was this lady blowing smoke up my arse?

I am halfway through season 3 of breaking bad. It's probably the best show ever.

Red Dawn was on last night and they kept scrolling across the screen that Dish won't have AMC. Said we thank the fans for the support, but Dish will not listen, or something like that.

they always come to an agreement. i wouldnt stress

i deal with reps from dish and DirecTV and i can see both sides. Dish is trying to keep prices low and AMC is asking for a 200% raise in their rates.

cable bills are getting out of hand so eventually someone has to stand up and say we are going to pay that crazy amount and have to raise our customers bills. from dish's angle its a bad PR move even though they are doing whats best for their customers.

I read that AMC will lose millions quickly because 14 million people have Dish Network. They'll work it out. Normally it gets worked out right at the end or after a few days of the channel being dropped.

Dish and Hoak Media had a big blowup a few weeks ago where local channels were dropped all at once without warning. They worked it out roughly 7-10 days later.

Negotiations get real once shite hits the fan.

Why is it that dish seems to be the only provider that has these problems? Seems like all my friends that have dish have stories about them dropping the channels they watch most and now this.

Directv does it as well. The reason you hear it more from Dish is because they battle it out to keep their prices lower. Directv, on the other hand, will likely settle it quickly and just raise their price.

I think in 2010, Dish had an issue with FOX and was going to drop Fox Sports, Fox Soccer, Fox Movie Channel, FX, National Geographic, etc. They ended up working out a deal but then Directv had the same issue about a month or two later and actually dropped the channels for a couple of weeks or so before theirs got resolved.
