In your opinion, how would you rank Lebron (as a basketball player in his prime) among this group of players in their respective primes?

Magic
Bird
Shaq
Lebron

(Trying to focus on more recent players and don't want this to turn into a Kobe v. Lebron or Lebron v. MJ thread)

My ranking (with links to basketball reference statistics pages for further review):

1. Lebron
2. Shaq
3. Magic
4. Bird

You could flip 1 & 2 back and forth but any lower would be insane. After Thursday LeBron will have one, but everyone on this list had multiple rings in their prime. I guess the real answer for LeBron is "more time needed to determine."

I disagree. Lebron is a better basketball player right now that than the other three ever were. No more time is needed. Lebron is the most-efficient, most athletic, and best defensive player out of the four. (albeit, I'm not saying it isn't close, but I think that looking at it rationally will lead you to this conclusion).

Why? Will this next game have any determination on how good of basketball player Lebron is?

He is more like Tracy McGrady when they figure out a way to lose this series.

He's last now, but in 5 years he'll be in the mix regardless of how many more titles he wins IMO

Stats don't tell the whole story here. For instance, Larry Bird is white.

Here we go with this shite again. Let's wait to crown LeBron when his career is almost over please. This is rediculous. I understand that he is this eras best player no doubt but you cant compare him or say that he is better than anyone in the previous eras. Its a different game now. But i will say this and it isnt a slight but for a player to be great in previous eras they would have to have a complete game and not be afraid to shoot jumpers.
