Do you sometimes find yourself getting music for getting's sake?

I have always been a music fiend, but lately I find I'm getting new music not because I may like it, but because I feel this need to "keep up."

I do like having a large library of music, but I feel like I'm less and less connected to the music I get.

Does anyone else feel that way?

It's not about "keeping up".
It's about discovering new music.

Sort of. I force myself to stay current because I know it's a short drive to being the old guy who still listens to Nirvana all the time if I don't.

I feel the same way. I will always listen to new music.

Sometimes it seems like a chore, but then you hear a song that blows your mind, and you remember why you listen to new music.

Are you not enjoying the new music you get?

Maybe you're just on a streak of bands that haven't appealed to you. Maybe change up genres, or listen to my new music tips because I have fantastic taste in music :)

I listened to Little Dragon for the first time last week, and I freaking loved them.

I listened to Washed Out for the first time this week, and I loved it.

I listened to Santigold (in depth) for the time several weeks ago, and I freaking loved her.

It isn't always like this. Some new bands just don't sound good to me. But I'm on a hot streak right now and I'm loving it.

My next venture will be into the full libraries of Spoon and also Regina Spektor.

After that, I'm gonna try a little Afghan Whigs on for size. Never heard them. But loved Twilight Singers.

After that, Childish Gambino.

I also need to listen to the Gotye cd in full and also this Edward Sharpe and Magnetic Zeros.
