I live on the northshore and would use it mainly around lake pont. I have a 16ft boat now that just isn't big enough. Does the Xpress handle any choppy water well?

dad has a 21. does pretty well although not like a fiberglass. However considering we do a LOT of inshore, down and dirty red fishing, it does well enough for us in the bay.

I'd go with fiberglass unless you can pick and choose your fishing days to avoid the wind.

Buddy of mine just bought one a month ago. He took it bass fishing once, then the next weekend we went to Leeville. The following monday, he's hosing the thing down and huge chunks of paint start falling off the bottom. The entire bottom, that had touched salt water, was stripped.

He immediately called the dealer, and the service rep told him it was the fourth boat in two weeks to come back with the same issue. He dropped it off a week and a half ago, and it JUST left for Arky to be refinished.

He has no idea how many other boats have gone to the factory, and no idea when he'll get his boat back.

Very nice boats. Aluminum boats do not handle the chop as well as fiberglass, but I'd still prefer them over fiberglass for south LA.

A buddy of mine has a 20' that is awesome for inshore reds. The thing will go places that a V hull glass boat will not. Downside: We crossed a medium sized bay/lake in it during a thunderstorm and I pissed blood for 2 days. Marsh fishing where you never lose sight of grass is this boats homefield. Fishing open water not so much.

I like them but like others have said, not a good ride in chop. How much do you want to spend. Nautic Stars are pretty close in price and are damn fine fiberglass boats

My buddy had a nautic star and I love it but I'm not that much of a baller yet.

Have a 22' Bay Series and I absolutely love it.

Handles big water well but you may get the spray if it's windy.
I just put on my rainsuit and cruise.
I fish Big Lake a lot with tons of Oyster Beds.
When the waves start getting big you have a chance to chip your fiberglass.

I also fish the jetties and the bridges of Toledo Bend a lot..It is perfect for what I do.

The difference between the 20' and 22' in rough water is night and day. Don't skimp.

I don't agree with this at all.
The particular design of the hull is what impacts the handling of a boat in rough waters. V-hull, flat bottom, catamaran, semi-v, etc

He's from Texas and probably can't help it, but I tend to agree with him that the Express boat has been discussed almost to the level of ki s here recently.

OP: try a search of this board for recent discussions.

I hear you, but in all reality, when is the last time any of us schmucks have come up with an original subject lately? It's just what happens on message boards. Plus, he had some other comments that make him sound like he is a know it all.
